I'm so glad you posted the recipe for the tea as our goldenrod is blooming right now.

Love all your photo's but the sky photo's are fantastic. Love the different shades of blue.

I'm wondering about that frost in 6 weeks too Crying

Look at how the sky changed the colors of the Caladium and Crepe Myrtle leaves in the last two pictures. Really does look like those stained glass windows you mentioned earlier. They were taken just an hour or so apart in mid afternoon. Probably have to enlarge to notice.

Yesterday was sunny, less humid and the sky was a deep, vivid blue here. I was returning home along our country road when I made a deliberate observation of the goldenrods, chicory, and other September perennials by the roadside. While I did not have Aunt Bett's wise counsel in my mental notebook, I know she is right about the coming frost! And, I will definitely try the tea this winter.

Today is cloudy, cool and 'rainy' looking. So I most likely won't make any road trips to gather leaves and blooms, but I will mark them on my calendar for later! Aunt Bett will long be remembered whenever I see these golden beauties along the roadsides. Thumbs up

"It's a real pretty time, " she'd say, Leon, and she would be right. We're having a little rain this morning, not much, but any little bit helps in this very dry corner of KY. The rain will just golden up the goldenrod, I think, and clean a little dust off everything else. It's so good that you look for the beauty that's all around you, too. In a few weeks we'll have more color than we deserve!

I need to take a walk to see if what I think is goldenrod is blooming. While looking up more information on goldenrod, I learned a few more things, including that there are over 100 different ones, and that they cross polinate. Therefore the varieties might just keep coming. Here is an interesting link. https://umm.edu/health/medical...

It matches what Aunt Bett knew about it, Mary, though she only used it as a tea as far as I remember and for me it was only used for sore throats and also to break a fever. I also remember that she never touched the roots.

Mine comes back every year in the same spot and this year it migrated down the hill and into the lower daylily bed. I never planted any of it but I always just let it grow when I see it. This morning it's a brighter yellow, probably from the rain we had earlier.

It's good to read that link. It sort of validates things that were told to me by Aunt Bett. Thank you.
