Everything is fine, my grandson has been having a lot of problems so a lot of time(and money)has been spent helping him. Also I decided to try and learn a little about the piano, so that takes a lot of time when you have no natural abilities along those lines. Just learning from the stuff put on Youtube, we have a piano that was my wife's as a child but I also borrowed my granddaughters keyboard while she is away in college. That way I can have it next to the computer, and my wife can watch TV in the family room with out me disturbing her.
The garden is in a state right now where there is almost nothing that needs to be done at the moment. There is a little edging I want to get done, and I am constantly working on the compost piles, either building them or using them up.
I do have an order of daylilies to be shipped to me, I already have each spot ready and labeled for each plant, so everything is pretty much under control.Yesterday I mowed the grass I think for the last time this season and everything looks great, we have had some nice rains lately and the weather has cooled and it is starting to feel like fall.
Hope everything is well with you.

Larry, I'm sorry to hear about your grandson. Is this the young man with the drug problems? If so, I know ... I and my family have been there too. I will keep you all in my thoughts and hope for the best.

Lucky you, everything under control in the garden! My 2 acres is in a constant state of chaos. This time of year I slowly start to get things back under control (I use the term "under control" lightly...ha!). At least now the weeds are growing an inch a minute and popping right back up. Also, with the cooler weather I can work longer and harder.

Glad to hear from you. I worry when anyone drops out of sight for a while... Annie

He has been clean for a year, but has huge anxiety problems, and other things but he is actually making a lot of progress, and is currently enrolled in computer courses, but everyday is a battle for him.
Moved a few daylilies around today and did some edging the weather is so beautiful now.

Sometimes young people with drug problems are wash-outs who would have never amounted to anything no matter what. Other times (like my late nephew and your grandson) they are kids who made one terrible wrong mistake and got caught by a monster. I hope your grandson can hang in there and keep lookingforward.

One thing I learned: Anxiety is another form of guilt. That poor child is carrying around an immense sense of guilt and fear so anything you can do to tell him "it's ok" will help him. Never excuse the behavior, but always excuse the person who has made a mistake. Is he a "giving" kind of person? If he is, play the "old grandad card"....ask him for help. Even if you don't need it. Really helps give a person a sense of worth and of contributing.

Our weather here is beyond beautiful. It's warmer than normal by about 10F, but still only reachingthe low 80s which is bearable. Our nights are dropping into the 50s (was 47F Tuesday night) so that helps too. No rain but everything is slowing down so it's not a problem. I wonder what is setting up....I wonder if we're going to have a mild winter or another bad one like last year.

Wishing you all the best, your garden pal, Annie
