Most of those are C. moschata grown for Libby's . The decorative pumpkins sold for halloween are a small market but what most people are familiar with. These are mostly C. pepo with an occasional C. maxima.

:Pumpkins grown in Illinois are used by local markets and big time producers; the big time production fields are often grown in irrigated fields in Tazwell and Mason counties just south of Peoria. There are several fields in Sangamon Co. (where I live) mostly for local outlets.
