I find it interesting.
Many are named after family members. For example, I have 'Speckled Tim' that was developed by Frey and named after his son. My guess is that Tim was not speckled:)
One of my all time favorite dahlias is 'Cornel.' Breeders first name was Cor and his wife's name was Nel. From the Netherlands, probably Cornelius?
Some are just plain descriptive like 'Ketchup and Mustard.' Really gives you an idea of what this dahlia will look like.
Lets not forget about white dahlias. We have blizzard, snow.........
