Here is a sample of what can be done with pine cones
These were old cones and we had a hard time cutting without falling apart
New cones are better to cut

Wow, don't get many pinecones where I live, but those look so pretty. I think I would put them out in the flower beds this summer, just to make people jealous thinking I have something blooming in this horrible heat!!

I love these too, Charlie. Thanks for sharing with us. We have tons of pine trees where I live....think I'll have to collect some.

Do you add a stem to them?

I agree I've had a vase that needs a "bouquet" and these might just work! How did you cut them, what paint did you use, etc., etc. Confused

We use tin snips to cut them
Some will loose their petals however they can be glued back
We have put them on wreaths, bird houses, gourds and on dowels coved with flowel tape

Oh wow, those are so pretty! I used to pick up different sizes and types of pinecones years ago, I even packed two or three in my suitcase when on vacation one time when I came across cones from different types of trees that we don't have here in Florida. They sat around forever before I ended up throwing them out because I couldn't think of anything to do with them. Drat! I wish I had seen this back then! I love this idea and even me with little artistic talent and short attention span would enjoy a project like this. I think I'm going to be on the lookout for pinecones! Thanks Charlie for this great craft for young and old alike! Now, tell us ... what kind of paint do you use?

A wreath would be so pretty! Or placing them on a frame!!! Or sticking a sturdy iron stem and placing them in the garden. Or..........

Yes, what paint? I'm guessing spray paint...

I once had a pinecone wreath, just regular dull brown cones ... a wreath with hementia's beautiful cone flowers would be wonderful!
