I know Cheryl...had a brain malfunction! I was born in NE TX....just thought of GA first because my family has loads of pine trees in their yard. LOL! I never get to go to piney woods of cass county TX very often.

I can see those pine posies as a cool fall wreath....remember fall anyone?? Cooler weather.....oooohhh ahhh!

Acrylics
We are working inside because of heat and spray paint or any oil paint right now would not be a good idea inside
We had the grand kids go on a cone hunt yesterday morning and spent most of yesterday tearing up over 100
They did manage to salvage a dozen or so and plan on painting them today
For a natural wood look varnish does well

Another great thread I almost missed! I have a few pine cones fall in my yard too, if only I could figure a way to keep the needles from falling. Impossible keeping needles from getting into everything, even the dogs drag them in. Since they aren't my trees I think the gardeners from the other side should do the cleaning up. Rolling on the floor laughing

Pegi: We had many Pines on our property 36 years ago when we bought our house and it seemed like every year at least one of those tall trees was being struck by lightening, so we eventually had all of the pine trees taken out ... I sure miss those pine needles! It's wonderful mulch for flower beds and compacted, pine needles make great pathways. In North Georgia where my youngest sister lives, the garden centers sell bales of pine straw each spring ... that always made me laugh because people here rake it up, bag it and put it out at the curb on yard trash day!

Nice. I'm just now working my way over to this thread. We have a 40+ year old pine tree in the back yard, a big old thing. Lots of cones every year. I have a bushel basket or two sitting down there as we speak. Gonna make me some of these sweet little "flowers". Thanks for the great idea!
Thumbs up

The cones the kids found were not the freshes and they had a hard time keeping them from falling apart
Here is what they ended up with
I hate to say it but they look better than mine Hilarious!

hermentia....those are lovely...great job they did on them. They look like fall mums for sure and would make a great looking wreath or centerpiece. Or put them on a styrofoam ball and add a loop to hang and a tassle or jewels on the bottom for a nice fall color. Rolling my eyes. Thumbs up

hementia , thank you so much for the wonderful idea of pine cone posies.

Sheila_FW said:Wow, don't get many pine cones where I live, but those look so pretty. I think I would put them out in the flower beds this summer, just to make people jealous thinking I have something blooming in this horrible heat!!

Sheila, I agree. What a great way to add color to the garden.
