Sorry for bringing up the truth. I didn't mean to offend anyone turning off a thread isn't going to solve anything

The best way we can stop this is to plant native food plants bees like on a more massive scale leave nests alone and not rely on orkin or toxic sprays every time we are appualed if they cause issues bees are a umbrella species that hold things in place
Another thing we can do is buy nontreated seed from companys like Baker creek

Yes they sting and there venmom is dangerous but bees hold things together

I started this thread to ask a question. I am satisfied with the good on-topic answers that I received. The rest has nothing to do with my question.

If folks were answering the question: "Can anyone tell me what would have caused this behavior so I can avoid any future problems." there would be no problem.

It seems like folks want to talk about other things so why not allow them to start a new thread so they can talk about their chosen topic?
There is a whole lot of room on this site for anyone who wants to start a thread.

Greene,
What is your problem. You can leave. No one is holding you. There is still good information coming forth. That is what ATP is all about no matter in what forum. Why cheat others of that.

My input is that bumble bees do live in the ground. I have worked in the garden around them and they have never bothered me although they have come close to my hand while landing on a flower. It is only when you go near their nest that they feel threatened and will attack.
