Welcome! to ATP cannafreak. I haven't been able to find Kansas City since I have been looking for it in the last year or so. Thai Rainbow is one I haven't heard of until today. It's a nice looking canna!
I'm glad that you dug up this thread again. @Cinta I have bought a lot of the foliage cannas and now I am looking for flowers. I buy my cannas for the most part from Karchesky Canna. I think Alice the owner is a one woman operation so emails sometimes aren't answered promptly. Be Mine is a new one for me that I bought for the flowers.

David I grow Flambe, the leaves got up to 8 ft and then the inflorescence (or raceme if you are pc) is 2 more feet. I planted Gigundo last fall, supposed to get 10 to 12ft. We'll see!

BTW don't ever buy Omega canna, it's a bona fide THUG. In one season it was tunneling under my daylilies 3 ft away. Grumbling

I do not grow them for flowers because I grow them in pots and they bloom to late.

Other than the dwarfs (dwarves?) that I get at Lowe's, I've only bought special Cannas from Florida Hill Nursery. They have some really interesting ones and they do get new ones in during the course of the year, so I keep going back to check. I have never seen Kansas City or Thai Rainbow though.

Elaine that is the place I have been using lately. I left Intrigue outside thinking it might survive but we had a hard winter so I had to re-order it for last summer. I brought it in last year so I do not have to buy it again.

I now have ~ 12 from seed including 1 Giant that popped up. Largest seeding is ready to pot up - it is ~ 4 inches tall.

My Canna that have been in the ground since 2010 are sprouting as well. I pulled some of the straw & brome mulch to check my Musa basjoo which was starting to grow as well. One of the cann coming up right next to my foundation is over 2 feet tall.

Last night, I tossed a frost blanket over the area. I had already tossed ~ 6 inches of mulch back on things after I checked teh banana status.

We had a mild winter this year my cannas probably would have survived this winter.

This year's test was Star Jasmine. I picked up 4 of them so I had enough to test and bring some inside. Looks like it survived. We are only suppose to go down in the 20 one night.

Susie, there's a small selection of Cannas at Florida Hill Nursery and I've ordered from them. They have some of the colors you're looking for. www.floridahillnursery.com

I've also bought Cannas from McLure & Zimmerman, and have their catalog right now. They have 'Ermine' which is a nice white and I've grown it too although it's not a real lusty one for me. They have sort of petered out since I last planted them 4 years ago. www.mzbulb.com

Susie, we don't have a Canna's forum per se, as it's included in the Aroids forum. Check them out. I just sent you a t-mail.

Yeah, we really can't have a whole forum for every different plant. There would be too many, and often the forums for one plant fizzle out and die after a while when everyone has posted all their plants.
