What exactly does it look like when a DL is in summer dormancy and you dig it up? Shrug!
Does anybody have photo's?

I have received DL's that look very puny to me, but the seller says it is because of the heat (it is a nursery nót in The Netherlands Hilarious! )
They are spiders, so perhaps that is reason for them not being very big, but still I was wondering..

I don't have photos but if it's hot and the plants are dry, I have several that will go completely dormant and die back to nothing.

The first two look a little pitiful but with roots like those they should be fine. The rest look about average for dips this time of year. In fact that looks a little better than my own fans of HEAVENLY ANGEL ICE!

They're hardier than we often give them credit for. For what it is worth, HAI also seems to make rather small fans. Blooms reliably for me each year so I'm pretty happy.
