Floota probably wasn't directing her comments to "The "Daylily Addict" .

Just want to assure those who may not know, that these DVDs were done professionally and with the cooperation and permission of the person being interviewed.

They were sold to the public ........ if you get to see them, you are in for a treat.

Correct! I actually did one of those videos with Charlie, and agree that his videos are great. Yes, I've heard of clubs using them before. Sorry they just weren't financially profitable enough for him to continue.

If your're Toronto or west or don't mind driving, there's the Ontario Daylily Society:

http://www.ontariodaylily.on.c...

If you're eastern Ontario there's at least one in Montreal but I assume the meetings are in French. If you're near the US border in eastern Ontario there are also some in NY State.

Ontario is in AHS Region 4, so you may find something else of interest on the Region 4 page of the AHS site - scroll down to "Regional Information" at http://daylilies.org

Most of the Ontario Daylily Society meetings are in Burlington and Toronto. There are also clubs in AHS regions 2 and 3 across the border from SW Ontario, they'll also be listed on the AHS regional page.

Those video trailers were such a tease! Wished I could view the entire videos of each one! Looked like some great videos! That's what I am talking about! Would love to see more of similar videos (only the full version, not just a trailer).

Thank you, Kathy for the heads up on the Daylily Addict videos.

I hope the AHS could find a way to record the speakers at different meetings. Many of us out here are not near a club or have the chance to hear many speakers.

Julie, I am sure that was a disturbing feeling.

Thanks for your input on good club programs. Here's what I wound up with for next year's programs:

Jan - What's new from favorite hybridizers and trends in daylilies 2016 - by me

Feb - Soil, Amendments and How to Prepare a Bed - by Peggy Jeffcoat

March - Garden Photography - by Linda Sue Barnes

April - Daylily World and What's in Store for the Kentucky National - David Kirchhoff

May - Annual picnic and Auction at Carolina Daylilies with a clinic on prepping daylilies for a show
also a field trip to Swan Lake Iris Gardens (on another day, LOL)

June - Daylily Show and Sale

July/Aug - no meetings

Sept - Garden Design, Creating Raised Beds and Using Daylilies in the Landscape - Tom Bruce

Oct - Field Trip to Carter & Holmes Orchids with Orchids 101 program by master orchid hybridizer Gene Crocker

Nov - Deer Resistant Companion Plants - me

Dec - C'mas Party and Gift Exchange

We'll also have a short back to basics segment at most meetings with topics like researching and buying daylilies online, how to grow DL from seed, hybridizing basics, forms of DL, etc.

All,
I'm late to the game of club programs, but our NWGDS has played Daylily Bingo with DL names in the squares instead of numbers. The names are called out and people place markers on their cards. When we first played it 7-8 years ago, we used the names of DLs that were popular then. In 2014, we had Daylily Bingo at the Summer Regional, back at the hotel after the garden tours for anyone who wished to play. Newer cultivar names were used. If it were hard to design, I couldn't do it. It just takes some time. 2-3 years ago, we brought dried lima beans as the markers. I planted some of them the next day. They grew and we ate them in several weeks! An added bonus, they were. Our club has come up with many fun activities over the years.
