I have a fairly nice camera and for the most part am happy with most of my pics. I have one frustration and for the life of me I can't get it right!!!! Maybe you can help. I have a Nikon 3100 and I have tried my best to get a picture of the moon. All I get is a bright circle of light. I can't get any detail. I can see it but it doesn't come out in the pic. I have tried flash, no flash, and night mode but nothing helps. Any suggestions?? Confused

Try making a series of shots on manual setting using different f - stops and shutter speeds in combinations.
It sounds like there is too much light and this washes out detail. I had the same problem with my wife's Sony during the luner eclipse with just a bright circle.
