My rat tails don't look as great as they should because I've left them out too long in the past. They had frozen areas and had to be trimmed back a lot. Now they stay in the house or in the greenhouse all year. They haven't bloomed as well in the house, so I'm hoping this year they will do better in the greenhouse.

Oh yes... It's nice and toasty. It got down to 18 degrees last night and it stayed 51 in my building

As with most cacti, it likes a lot of full sun when it is actively growing to be able to do the buds. But it is sometimes hit and miss for me too. My yard gets a lot of part shade when our city trees are full of leaves so it has a very short window of really good direct sunlight.

Right now it is 20 at our place in NM, but my greenhouse is running at 57 right now. It has a big water tank and a small electric heater. The last few days have been almost no sun. The greenhouse really heats up well on sunny days. It normally is up to 90 on a bright winter day.

Wow, 90 on a winter day! I get those temps in late Spring and forward, and then the triple digits ugh!

We are at 6500 ft elevation and the air is very clear there. Yes, I hate those triple digits in AZ, and we sometimes get them in NM too, outdoors. I fought all summer to keep the temps below 100 F but it was hopeless even with 3 vents open, door open, and solar fan moving air. I'm thinking of a tiny evaporative cooler. It would work well there since we have little humidity in summer unless the monsoons come.
Off for now. See you tomorrow.
