Hello!

A while ago, I posted a question about a carnivorous pitcher plant. The plant is doing well. In fact, I think it is out growing its pot with three pitcher plants! should I replant them in another pot? Here is a picture.



Second, my Pitcher plants pitchers are dying for some reason, ALL of them except for one that just started growing



What should I do? I think it is too cold for them.

Third, my mom has a tropical plant that is drooping. We have been taking good care of the plants, but hers continues to droop Can anyone help us?

That last plant is a Peace Lily, Peace Lilies (Spathiphyllum). They prefer moist soil on the dry side and bright indirect light - if that's a South facing window it may be getting too much sun. It also looks like you may be watering it too much. If it's been in that pot a very long time, say over a couple of years, I'd cut it back and repot it into fresh soil and let it start over again.

A soon as you see the Peace lily start drooping, water it. If it gets really droopy, set in a pail of water for several hours.
Do let it dry out a bit between watering.

It also may need dividing. Peace lilies will fill a pot with roots and unlike some plants, they do not like that.

I don't know anything about Nepenthes (Pitcher Plant) but there are quite a few listed in the database. Hopefully someone that grows this interesting plant will pop in and offer advice.

I agree that your mom's droopy plant is a Peace Lily and they love water! Mine that are planted in soil will completely flop and get real droopy when I forget to water them but they perk right back up after a good soaking. A couple of months ago I divided a really crowded peace lily, washed all soil from the roots and put them in glass vases with pebbles and water ... so far they are doing great growing in water.

That's interesting .. my Peace Lily likes barely most soil ... start to look awful if I water it a lot.

I owned a flower shop and have cared for and sold hundreds and hundreds of peace lilies. When I bought them off a bucket truck, I would immediately drop them in a 5 gal bucket with 6 " or so water and let them hydrate for several hours.

Looking at the pic above again - too close to the window as noted above. They don't handle strong or direct sun light well.
It may be an illusion, but that pot looks awfully big compared to the plant.

On the pitcher plant, it's not anywhere near needing a bigger pot. I had one that grew in a smaller pot than that for at least 3 years, and the leaves and pitchers hung down nearly 4ft before I repotted it. It got to 6ft in the new pot and finally I put it out under my big oak tree.

They gain most of their nutrients from the bugs they catch in the pitchers, so the roots are really more for just anchoring the plant. As long as it isn't coming out of the pot, its fine.

They like bright shade, warmth, high humidity and water always in the pitchers, but not chlorinated tap water! Chlorine will kill the enzymes in the pitchers and the plant will starve.

So water it with either warm rain water or leave a jug of tap water out on a counter over night to let the chlorine evaporate before watering it. Hold the plant over the sink or in the shower and make sure you wet the leaves so that water goes into the pitchers

All great information! And I'd also add on your Nepenthes that the older pitchers do in fact begin to fade (shrivel/die) as they age. Completely normal. Just cut them off from the leaf tip to clean the plant up.
