Today's Salvias of the Day is Meadow Sage (Salvia chiapensis).

This plant can be found in the ATP Plant Database at:
Chiapas Sage (Salvia chiapensis) .

Please join in, if you own this plant! We would love to know more!

Also, please consider adding a "Local Report" to the ATP Plant Database! Thank you!

I don't think Meadow Sage is a good common name for this species. To quote from our site:

Meadow Sages, which are native to Europe and known for their cold tolerance, provide vibrant color and a strong vertical element to flower beds. The Meadow Sage group encompasses four main species of Salvia commonly found growing in meadows and pastures. These are:

Salvia pratensis
Salvia nemorosa
Salvia x sylvestris and
Salvia x superba.

@FBTS

I agree it isn't a meadow sage.

I have heard it just called Chiapas Sage, but for such pretty fuzzy flowers and nice foliage, it needs a better name. Maybe it needs an agent.

I submitted a proposal yesterday to delete the "common" name of meadow sage, so it just shows Chiapas Sage for the common name. (It was already included as a common name before)
