I dug my dahlias up today after 2 weeks from cutting them back. I didn't see very many new buds when I washed them off. So, I just cut the tubers as close to the main bulb as I could. Most of my tubers look smooth on the ends, with no bumps or buds. Should I waste my time wrapping them when they're done drying? Will they grow back next year?

Thanks

Did you keep part of the neck attached to each tuber? If not the odds are there will be no eyes.

I often can't see the eyes on my tubers - even after leaving them in the ground for a couple of weeks after cutting them back. You did the right thing in cutting them right at the stem. Sometimes I leave a tiny bit of the stem attached.

Go ahead and store them and I bet almost all of them will sprout in the spring.

I left the neck, but not sure if I left enough! I'll wrap them this weekend and see what I get. Make sure all of you that are selling let me know...I'll probably be buying next spring!
