I visited the house last weekend. Not a lot to see garden-wise on a frigid January day. It was about 2 pm, and the weather was quite sunny, but the evergreens really do cast a lot of shade in that front area.
This tree is bigger than I thought, and I imagine will cast a lot of shade when it has leaves. It's the only one that's separate from the evergreen border. Excited to find out what it is.
Here are the evergreens I keep mentioning. They provide very nice privacy and noise-reduction from the road... all the newer houses nearby just look so exposed! But the downside is that there is lots of poison ivy growing up them to be dealt with.
Moving in May, I doubt I'll be able to do any spring planting before the weather gets too hot. So I'll have the summer to get to know the space and plan some more, then really get started with planting in the fall.
