I have a bed of A. sarmentosa that is 4'x4' and early on the foliage is completely covered with the pink flowers. It's one of my best sellers in the Spring (blooming) and is quite stunning.

I have not seen any of mine bloom yet. What lovely blooms in your above photo Kate.
What are your summer temps like Kate, at the hottest part of summer? Do you ever have to provide shade for your semps and alpine plants? How often do you water them? Or do you get rain throughout the summer?

This summer has broken many records. I don't have to provide shade, but we've had many days in the 90's w/humidity to match. Ugh!!! Recently, I've been watering the raised beds once a week - overnight (I know, I know about overnight watering, but I can't do it easily when customers are around during the days)

I've recently moved a half dozen sorts of alpines in full bloom and they are doing OK because I watered the bejesus out of 'em from the start. I do that with daylilies all the time and as long as I don't divide the clumps, they don't even shock a little bit.

Usually we do have rain at useful, regular intervals - but not this summer. Lots of rain (and flooding) early and nothing like the usual in July.

Kate, is the C. glomerata acaulis shown in your picture at it's mature size? I'm liking that one a lot!

The tallest I've had one of the C. glomerata acaulis get is 10"-12". Most are at or under 8". They are quite lovely. Also the dwarf Platycodon is an impressive plant - full-sized flowers on a very dwarf plant.

I find them all so fascinating. Some have star shaped flowers, some bell shaped, some facing up and some facing down. My favorites are the dwarf/small types.
I have a lovely white one with miniature white bells. I don't think I got a photo of it in bloom. : (

Chris you might be able to buy some from Kate.
Also from Wild Ginger Farm. http://wildgingerfarm.com/Campanula.htm

I love my little Campanula cochlearfolia 'Bavaria White'. I thought I took photos of it when in bloom last month, but I can't find it. : (
It is amazing in bloom and when not flowering it makes a lovely dense, low growing mat of tiny leaves.

I grow them from seed. Try any site that sells specialty rock garden seeds.
