I have this beautiful plant, but I don't remember what it is called and the leaves are browning, so I'd like to learn the problem!

Maybe dracaena fragrans? If so, you are not the only one with this problem....

To my eyes it appears to be one of the varieties with narrower leaves, possibly
Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana)
Variegated Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana 'Borinquensis') or perhaps
Song of India (Dracaena reflexa var. reflexa)
Song of India (Dracaena reflexa 'Variegata')

Dracaena prefers bright light but no direct sun which will burn the foliage and they require good drainage so be sure that you are using a lightweight potting medium, or add extra perlite which will help aerate the soil to prevent root rot. Be sure the container that has drainage holes in the bottom so that water is not sitting around the roots and keeping them too wet, which will definitely cause root rot. This plant likes humid conditions and you can raise the humidity levels by sitting the pot on a tray of moist pebbles; just replace the water in the tray as it evaporates ... or you can mist it daily which will raise the humidity around the plant.

The leaves on mine do dry up on the bottom so I pulled them off when they came off easily. They need moist atmosphere, in dry air the tips will dry up. I've had one from a young plant for around 17 years, it got tall and leggy but is still alive with a couple of new offshoots growing from the base so I might have to cut off the lanky stem.

The plant you have looks to already have been cut back, can you see a stump in the middle? If not then it will be several young plants growing in the same pot.

Dracaenas are sensitive to fluoride in tap water. Lime in tap water can also raise the PH to unhealthy levels. Whenever possible, give distilled, rain, or condensate from a dehumidifier or A/C. Repotting (root prune, replace old soil with new) every year or two also helps keep the roots healthy.

It is Dracaena fragrans 'Warneckei', of the Deremensis Group.
