August Contest Entries in What's Blooming in August

This article launches a new feature at All Things Plants. On the 15th of each month I will highlight plants blooming here at Cottage-in-the-Meadow Gardens. I'll have photos and will discuss the plants featured. You're invited to discuss these plants, too, but just as important, you're encouraged to show us what's blooming in your garden each month. I'll also have a monthly contest called "Name that Bloom." The first person to correctly identify the plant will have a photo of his/her choice published and featured in the following month. Be sure to check out this month's mystery flower at the end of this article.

There is a living creature on the Leadplant. What kind of creature is it and what's it called?

One more challenge:

The botanical name of the Leadplant (Amorpha canescens) is often cited with the name misspelled. What is the misspelling?

And here's the clincher: What is the linguistic name for such a misspelling?

is it Leadplant (Amorpha candescens)?

Hint: Be sure you enlarge the photo. There is an insect on the flower part of the plant about a third of the way up from the bottom of the photo. Do you see it?

I do see it Larry, on the right side about 1/3 way from bottom of photo on a leaf. I just can see it well enough to tell what it is. I see long thin legs

Oh, I see a beetle type thing in the flowers. Didn't see that before. But did you realize down lower in the photo on the leaves there is what appears to be a spider of some kind. Just can't see it clear enough.
