I was given this plant back in 2014, one of the first named daylilies I grew. It is a fast multiplier, a reliable bloomer, and a reliable rebloomer in my garden. I have had clumps of it growing in several places, but as I have added more cultivars I have not cut it back to just one clump in the garden, but I still have several pots of it growing.
Here is what 'South Seas' looked like today in my garden.

This is the cultivar that made me fall in love with daylilies. I received a spindly plant in a pot as a bonus with an order of mixed perennials, and I threw it into a bed without expecting much. This was maybe 2016? Anyway, the plant took off, it bloomed, and I was in love. Since then South Seas has been nothing but an excellent performer for me. My original spindly plant has become a huge clump, which I recently divided. In its second summer, it not only bloomed profusely but rebloomed, and it has rebloomed every year since. It's got healthy, beautiful foliage, and I adore the electric coral color of the blooms, which can be seen all the way across the yard. Scapes are 30" at least.

I see that the database entry says it's susceptible to rust, but that hasn't been my experience (knock on wood).

It's still my favorite, and I would recommend it to anyone.

This picture is from last summer, before I divided that large clump.

South seas is a real performer every year, I can't count the times it has been divided.

I have two clumps of South Seas, an old one from Seawright and a newer one from G Wild, planted in August 2020. My original clump did not seem to be doing much this summer. It might have been disturbed by various clean up efforts. The new plant did bloom for a little while. I really like the flower color. I'm hoping for more action next year.

2021 update
Survived the "BIg Freeze" in a pot
FFO 5/30/21 right about middle of mid-season 5" x 24" in pot
I had 6+ fans in the pot [way overcrowded D'Oh! , 5 scapes, about 9 buds/3 way branching.
Seems to be pod fertile...haven't planted any of the seeds.
In the ground fall 2021.

[quote="UncleWill"] I've only had SS one year so I can't speak to how it increases yet but I think it's going to form a clump fairly quickly.

I am wondering, Uncle Will, how your South Seas daylilly did in year two, last summer?
I will be in year two this year, filled with anticipation !

South Seas has done exceptionally well in my garden. I divided it a few years ago and move it to a south location. Main clump is east facing.

I had South Seas several years and it had always done amazingly well. Had it planted too close to the driveway I guess. A delivery truck took it out, I thought it was a goner and gave it up. Three years later, it bloomed! Only a single fan, but it is a surviver.

Guess I'm going to be the lone negative review. It died on me. I had it in a pot and it never did well for me. One Spring it must have gotten too much rain or it freeze/thawed one time too many and it rotted. I never replaced it because I didn't have any space in the garden for it to go in the ground. I did love the flowers and I did use it for hybridizing. Most of the kids I have from it are more hardy but none closely resemble it.

I got South Seas from a box store in 2017 and it was absolutely stunning. It didn't bloom last year because we had a harsh winter with no moisture. This picture is from 2020 and I'm hoping I didn't lose it for good. Crossing Fingers!

I did not see this bloom in 2022. Perhaps it was removed inadvertently when I was cleaning out Fulva? Well, anyway, no bloom…

2023…Ok, I figured it out. I planted one clump of South Seas in Upper Bed, then later mistook it for Fire King which it resembles and is right next to it. It wasn't until I saw the blooms side by side this summer that I figured out what was going on. I haven't seen the clump on Upper Daylily Hill, it might be gone. But the one in Upper Bed is going great guns!

This year it bloomed from July 1-28 with tons of bloom
