Mine printed out nicely.

The seeds of the Amaryllis belladonna are small, they are not yet a bulb.

I wonder if saw dust would protect them?

Yes I'd say a little ziplock bag if you have it, with some very lightly moistened sawdust, should work just fine. If not sawdust, peat moss or even just slightly damp potting soil would work.

Got it Dave. I do have some potting soil, I'll slightly moisten it and put them in the little seed ziplock bags I have.

I also love the "packing list". Makes it so easy to organize.
I will be sending mine out tomorrow.

Lynn, I'd pack those moistened Amaryllis seeds separately from your other seeds and put them in a separate bag to keep the moisture away from the dry seeds. Otherwise, the dry seeds might start to germinate or mold during transit. Smiling

I was thinking the same thing, about the possibility of mold or germination -- but I'm certainly no amaryllis expert, so ??

Lynn, how would you keep them if you weren't sending them somewhere? Or would you just plant them immediately?

I just plant them where they fall.
Each seed is in it's own tiny ziplock bags, so there will be no moisture contamination. The pottingsoil/moss/sawdust is just to give them some cushioning for travel.

At some point I'd like to create an "After the swap is over" chat thread. Such a chat thread could stay in this forum, or go to the "Seeds" forum, or even the Sandbox.

No hurry. Probably the best place for such chat will become more obvious after a few swaps.

I kind of like the idea of having at least one Swap Chat thread in the Seeds forum, to kind of cross-pollinate that forum with some "swapping" pollen.

I like that "cross-pollinate a forum". I suspect I'll be visiting the seed or veggie forum to get help with some of my seeds.

Good point - "Beta Swap Veggie Chat". Now I need to think of some good vegetable question to get that thread started.

I'm sure I can think of something to ask valleylynn about what I should do with Naked Lady bulbils, since these will be my first Naked Ladies ... but that's neither vegetable nor seed.

I wish I had taken a photo before I sealed the box, but it was 2 AM ...

Dave, is there any chance you could take some photos or even a very brief video, once you have many of the incoming boxes and outgoing boxes open, with boxes of bags of packets of seeds everywhere?

If some of the young'uns were toddling back forth to "put this baggie in luvsgrtdanes' box", I think it might go viral.

Modest? What would serious collection of seeds look like? Blinking

I love the idea of a chat thread, we can share information on how our new seeds are doing.

I think I saw a statistic somewhere that measured the Svalbard seed vault's contents in the TONS of seeds.

I think this link needs a big screen and a fast Internet pipe ... lots of 360-degree interactive imagery.

https://www.croptrust.org/what...

"Currently, the Vault holds more than 860,000 samples ..."
"The Seed Vault has the capacity to store 4.5 million varieties of crops."
" ... -18ºC ... sealed in custom made three-ply foil packages ..."
