A pot of irises could go in the iris category, the container category, or the perennials category. I think photos should be moved only if they're in a clearly inappropriate category (an Iris in the Annuals category, for instance).

I don't think photos should be ignored if they're in a marginally "iffy" category. What if you grow only one type of plant, and you take great photos of that particular type? If you're an amaryllis addict, for instance, and you have 20 superb amaryllis photos, you could enter 5 in Tropicals, 5 in Bulbs, 5 in Lilies, and 5 in Perennials. If you have some closeup photos, you could enter another 5 in the Macros category.

Could the 'apple' be a peach?

dirtdorphins,

I thought it was a peach, too.
In fact, I thought the little thief looked like he was running from the police... in this case, The Peach Fuzz. Hilarious!

Bad jokes aside, I really did think it was a peach. Shrug!

Re Zuzu's comment. Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) would never be included as perennial for me. In the UK climate these are strictly indoor bulbs. Also they aren't true lilies.. It's a bit of a minefield, same with dahlias. I think we should have had an animals category, then the fox could have gone in there.

But the Lilies category wasn't called the Lilium category. I remember photos of an Ismene, a Gloriosa, a Fritillaria, and a Clivia, all of which have "lily" in their common names. I hope no one ignored those photos just because they're not in the Lilium genus. I think it would be wrong to get too strict about the categories. If all of the photos of gazanias, petunias, begonias, pelargoniums, snapdragons, fuchsias, and other perennials had been removed from the Annuals category, for instance, there'd be almost nothing left. Those tender perennials are grown as annuals in some climates, so I think their inclusion in the Annuals category is permissible.

Zuzu, I liked the "oddballs" in the Lily category. When I stopped and thought about it, I was like, "Oh yeah, that's a Gloriosa Lily; that's also known as a Kaffir Lily". It made me think about how diverse plants are and that what some people think of as a Lily might not be what comes to mind for other people. I think things like that are fine; it's the egregious examples that I'm bypassing.

She was a fox taking peaches from out of the tree to her three cubs. Sorry it was the only fun fruits or veggies picture I had from lately. I did not think about it being out of context. Whistling

Esperanza, For me the fox photo was the most fun photo in the entire contest. Thank You!
I admit that at first glance my brain wondered why there was an animal in the vegetable and fruit category, but sure enough, as soon as I clicked to enlarge the photo I was smiling from ear to ear. Thumbs up

I thought it was an apple...and *Blush* since I live in Georgia I should have recognized it as a peach. Rolling on the floor laughing

I loved the fox also. Made me grin a big one.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
