This may be a rather adversarial thing to say, but I really had a hard time voting for pictures that required scrolling. It was hard for me to get a sense of the broader art when I couldn't see the whole thing at once.

My sideways point here (as it were), I think, is that ever contest has parameters. And it seems to me that part of this one's is the way the photo gets displayed. In my case, that's on a 2048x1152 screen.

No action required. I'm not complaining. It's just something I noticed.

I agree with this.

I will add that the little cell phone photos are difficult to see and I tend to pass them up for that reason.

If you right click, I think many (most?) browsers has a pop up menu with the option "View Image" or something similar. That would then open the image and make it fit on your screen/window, so you don't have to scroll Smiling .

I've updated the code so that if the image is very tall, it'll now automatically resize it down for you so you don't have to scroll.

I thought something looked different. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!
Sure, now you do it Dave, after William told us the secret. I found that nifty.

I guess it's not possible to please everyone, is it? Smiling I'm glad I did my judging before the change. I don't like to have to scroll, but I just looked and it was a lot better for some photos than what I'm seeing. On a lot I just skimmed through, there was no benefit. Might as well just have stayed on the main page for those because they are really not appreciably larger to view. But then William's trick didn't work either. My box gave the option to view in another window, but that's the only option I could see and I still have to scroll.

How do some of the slideshow things work? I know in my photo program if I go to a file and select the slideshow option, everything is re-sized to fit the screen. That's a real benefit for most thumbnail size photos. Most of the time they retain good quality. If I make them larger, they get really fuzzy, but somehow the slideshow presents them with good clarity.
