I am stuck. No oil is used down here........ever, and it would cost me a small fortune to run gas lines (more than the small fortune spent for those 240V heaters plus running dedicated wiring from the house breakers to the greenhouses). I wish I had some engineering background, David, particularly EE.

Thank You! Julie. I don't know about that "great" statement. Just telling about my experiences, sometimes good and often not so good.

Here is my all-time favorite Celadine. It bloomed the first time in Sept. 2014, and now is blooming again. It is the Plumeria Rubra Celadine var. Ramsey. The flowers are about twice the size of the average Celadine flower and almost all yellow. Last year the yellow was more intense, perhaps a difference in blooming time makes the yellow a bit lighter this time of year. The fragrance is all-Celadine and the leaf pattern gives it away. Now, every time one comes in bloom, I am looking for a seed-pod. I have been smitten! Sighing!

Kem - You grew this one from seed too? I was just wondering on you naming it. How did it come about?
If it was a cutting, do they not come absolutely true cause they are a clone? Or is it considered a "sport"? (Need scratching head emoticon.)

Getting this back OT. I think my Little Darlin - my first Plumeria which is in my Living Room. I think it is shutting down and going dormant. Leaves are looking a bit wild and dropping off slowly. They look brown and mottled. They are not under any kind of attack.

You'll have to ask more expert folks than I, David. This is a cutting not a seedling. I have grown many dozens of plumeria from cuttings of my 25 year old "Mother" plant, and this is the only one to have this flower. Every other one that I have seen bloom (and from what people who have gotten my cuttings over the years have told me), all have had standard, average Celadine flowers. The leaf pattern is very specific to the Celadine.

Yep, it sounds like dormancy to me, David.

David is right, it would be considered a sport.

I like it regardless of the name. "Sport" doesn't sound so great to me. I prefer "Variation". Sticking tongue out

Thanks Ken. Then that does in fact sound like a sport from a cutting. Fascinating.

". I have grown many dozens of plumeria from cuttings of my 25 year old "Mother" plant, and this is the only one to have this flower."

That nails it. For my own edification, I will now do some research on Sports or Variation from cuttings.

That is kewl. And of course! Variation does sound so much better. Heh

"Sport" sounds sort of tawdry to me. It is a very old term and I wouldn't want to have had that label back in the day. Sticking tongue out Perhaps the plumeria won't mind, but then again.......... Whistling

Someone last fall (I am pretty sure who it was) said to label it the way I did. I did not know so just followed that recommendation. Rolling my eyes.

Sounds great Ken. And yeah - I like the name. I grow a lot of things that are named as variations.
BTW - is my Celadine a var. Ramsey?

I don't know, David. Stupidly, when that particular plant bloomed last year (and there was only the single plant), the label was lost or I never labeled it at all. Since I did not have a label on this plant, I had to wait for it to bloom to know. I only knew it was a Celadine because of its leaf pattern. I assume your will be the standard Celadine, though I have no way of knowing.

Here are pictures, David, of those flowers taken last September (2014). Quite a difference, huh?

I guess on the bloom difference. Heh. Could you do a side by side? TIA

I am not sure what you are asking for, David. I showed last year's var. with the standard along side of it.

If you got my var. (at that greatly discounted price), I am going to be sort of unhappy. I have never posted it for sale and it won't be priced the same as a standard Celadine when/if I do. Whistling

I got to look up what "sport" is Rolling on the floor laughing Good thing you did not sell hat one Ken. Whatever it is your doing, you are doing it great! Looks like your 25+ years of taking good care of your Celadine paid off.

You won't have seedpods unless a moth accidentally went in your solarium with the plants. Or maybe they laid their eggs and they come visit your blooming plumerias.
