Yep, that's why the get together is at the end of October! (BTW, no one asked if I ever won the cook-off. Well, no I haven't. I have to make Yankee chili that isn't very spicy for the Yankee in our house).

Just like my vegetarian chili gets few votes!
When our kids were young, we would all be out on the street and had a margarita party along with grilling. When our friends who instigated the margaritas left, the party fell apart. There is still a yearly table set up for Halloween and occasional holiday party. That is great that you all still do stuff together.I was listening to a program that said in crisis situations like earthquakes and floods, neighbors are most important.

Well, what are you saying Sandi? I'm a Yankee but I like my chili with some kick (but not too much, that makes my tummy hurt).

I can't argue with your reasoning Sheila! It's downright miserable out there.

We're on the cul-de-sac so that would work perfectly. We might actually have to trim the tree back though. I think our mailman is getting annoyed.

Sorry Carey, but he is won't eat anything he considers "spicy."

I told DH I was going to call and see if we could see the owls tonight. He told me they are only there when they have babies. Not now. I guess I only heard parts of the conversation. Well, there were a lot of people there talking! I want to see owls!
