I have had this one for quite awhile and it always performs nicely. It is right on with the stats, has a decent bud count and is fertile both ways. It produces lots of good seed and produces nice seedlings. One of my favorite seedlings from Starman's Quest is (Lavender Blue Baby x Starman's Quest).

I purchased Starman's Quest after it appeared on the cover of Region 15, Hema-Lina. In person it is much prettier. Last summer the 3rd year it has been grown in my garden, it bloomed for several weeks and has increased nicely. Love the purple.

Starman's Quest had a long bloom season for me here. I purchased it on July 4th, planted it within a day or two, and I pollinated every SQ bloom I had this year, for a total of 27 blooms (on two different scapes, if I recall correctly). It bloomed July 17th until August 6th (7/17/15 - 8/6/15) here.

Starman's Quest is a type of daylily that does seem to change colors depending on the weather. It will appear more pink-ish some days and more purple-ish other days, but it is a beautiful flower. It's scapes are rather thin, but they still hold up nicely and I didn't need to stake them at all.

About half (13, I think) of the blooms I pollinated formed mature seedpods.

Here are some pictures:

The last picture really highlights several notable characteristics of the plant:
* the budding/branching structure
* the effects of wet weather (notice the thin tissues of one or two of the petals dissolving somewhat at the ends)
* the pink coloration (instead of purple) that occurs sometimes

Don't let the above list scare you, though; as you can see from the picture before it, Starman's Quest is a gorgeous flower overall. You might guess that Starman's Quest only turns pink during rainy weather (counter-intuitive to the more typical fading effect in bright sun), but that didn't seem to be the causal factor in my garden from what I recall. Weather may have played a part, but it's hard to say because it was pink once or twice on rainy days and once or twice on sunny days from my recollection. What caused the lighter coloring is a mystery to me. Shrug!

the 1 fan I bought last year has multiplied to 2 fans and 1 scape Lovey dubby

I can't measure the height yet (note to self: place my DL's not so far in the back of the border that I can't reach them..), but the flowers are well above the foliage Thumbs up
Wonderfull flowers, that not always look the same Shrug! , but I love both versions!!

STARMAN'S QUEST is an excellent plant. Hardy in Zone 5 and is a rapid increaser. It is pod and pollen fertile. Scapes don't lean when there are multiple blooms open. Will have the occasional proliferation. Blooms over a long period of time. It has been blooming for 6 weeks with many buds to go.
