Ohh, thanks for responding! We were in Vancouver ca ten years ago and we just had to take the Ferry over to Vancouver Island to see the Gardens! So beautiful!
Now I have to take another look at your entries!

We signed up for a whale watch and garden trip and it was a great experience. I don't remember which tour service we used but it was so well organized. I would have liked about another hour or so in the gardens though.

From what I remember, one could spend a day in those gardens.

Anyone who has been to Butchart Gardens would recognize that shot. I have the almost identical shot. Right down to the color of the sky.
I don't know why it comes out that color. It wasn't that color as I recall.

It was just one beautiful day. We had the option of eating downtown or taking an early bus, we chose the later. The extra time was well worth it. The tour picked us up at the garden's docks, so we planned or trip through the gardens accordingly, we ended with the Japanese Garden last and had to walk through to the docks, without dwelling there. It would nave been nice to wander about a bit.

Yes, you can easily spend a day wandering through all the little gardens. And the time of year matters a lot. They change out a lot of the plants through the season. And different perennials bloom at different times. Beautiful any time of the year.

I was comparing my picture to your picture to figure out where you took it from (back up to my left, up the stairs). I realized that my picture has a smoke stack in the right background. Did you edit it out or did they remove it?

Carl, I did no editing, but wonder if the angle and tree height may cover it. I vaguely remember someone mentioning a smoke stack but not what they said about it. Heck, they may have said they recently took it down. I checked some of my other pics, but don't see any that would show it. There were just so many beautiful gardens just in Vancouver and with the excellent public transportation and just a bit of walking you can see a couple a day.

Isn't that a smoke stack in the upper right of this photo? It's some sort of man made tower.

@needrain, I see it too! It is very hard to see in @eric4home 's picture but it is there. It is between the pine trees and about the same height as the background mountain. The color tones match the trees around in his picture.

Wow. In my picture is is white. Maybe they painted it or it was in shadow. I couldn't see it. The enlargement makes it much more visible. Thanks for clearing that up.

It's shadows, I think. Your photo appears to have been taken toward mid-day (lots of overhead light) but with a cloudy haze. Your photo doesn't show any shadows. But the other photo shows light entering from the right casting shadows. That would put the smokestack in the shade of the hill behind it. All the hills in the background appear to be in shadow. If the sun were coming from the opposite direction, the smokestack and the hills would be brighter.

That one's on my BUCKET LIST!
Would like to see Longwood Gardens again, too.

That's exactly what we did also. Stanley park is a beautiful park with great landscaping and lovely views.

Yes it was lovely and a short walk away was Queen Elizabeth Park, and conservatory talk about views.
