Would I be correct in assuming that swap is restricted to US citizens only ?

@signet - Heather, indirectly, yes. If you have someone you know with a US address, though, that you can have everything sent to/from, you are welcome to join and we'd love to have you.

Heather, I would be DELIGHTED to forward your package to DnD and then forward his back to you.

I've missed your great Tomato and Pepper swap!

Most of the variety in my tomato stash came from Heather's swap.

Good to see you online again, Heather!

I have missed those tomato swaps, too! The other tomato swaps offer nothing like the scope of varieties in Heather's swaps.

Hi Rick , that is a wonderful offer you have made but I must clarify that I think you are mistaking me for someone else in regards to the tomato and pepper swap you have referred to . I would love to take the accolades but I can't claim responsibility for it unfortunately . So if you want to rescind your offer I will understand . I appreciate the thought.

I stand corrected - "the other Heather" lives in Calgary.

Probably I can use a "flat rate Priority padded envelope" between myself and the host, and probably your trades would fit into that OK. If so, then I have no extra cost to relay your seeds, since the padded envelope is about the same price as a small Priority box.

The only problem would be if getting through customs on the way to me slows down your seeds so much they're late for the swap.

So I would be happy to do it, just let the host and I know.

If you worry about paying back favors, and "any Heather from Canada is a friend of mine" doesn't cover it, maybe some day post a photo to one of the "chicken" threads in the Farming Forum, or start a pot-bellied pig thread.

Ah , Heather MacDonald is the Heather responsible for the tomato and pepper seed trade. Nice lady ! I have traded with her a number of times over the years on Gardenweb . I think though , I will pass on this swap Rick. I do appreciate your generous offer but between having too much on my plate this time of year along with having to worry about border issues which no one needs ( including you ) then I think the better part of valor is to bow out .
I will be watching avidly to see how it all works and maybe some time in the future can participate in a seed swap .

Hope everyone has a great holiday season and new year .

I hope we do get a chance to swap some day.

The few times I've sent seeds across our common border, they always went through ... eventually. Sometimes fast and sometimes slowly.

I think I calculated once that we could have WALKED the seeds faster from Calgary to Seattle (or vice versa) than they went by mail including a long layover in Customs.

Well, maybe not - 1,000 km = 620 miles. 200 hours. 25 days at 8 hours per day at 3 MPH (ignoring mountains). Close, anyway! Only 8+ days if you could walk 24 hours per day.
