That all sounds pretty good, Sally -- enjoy it while it lasts! Lake Michigan (or, I should say, the bay that we are near, not the "big lake") is still wide open and I am beginning to have fantasies of it remaining that way all winter.... Big Grin

Sandy,
It will all be over next week. We're headed for below average cold weather. But that's ok. It's supposed to be winter. We're going in with a good water supply to all trees.

No kidding. What is normal? It seems like the spring months change places. April acts like March.

Ugh, now you're going to be below average? We're supposed to stay above average, for the most part anyway... but it seems to me that anything over 0F in January and February is probably "above average," so that doesn't mean we're going to have a heat wave Hilarious! . March is always the worst month of the year for me -- as long as I've lived here, every year March comes and I think "yay, spring!" But no, it's not -- not up here. But at least we know it isn't too far away once March comes (and you can smile when you're outside without your teeth freezing!). Smiling

My DD informs me that we have already has the longest night of the year; each day the sun will set later and later. Looking forward to Spring. Thumbs up

Just think about all the bad bugs being killed by the cold, David...

Lucky you David. I killed two in the entryway this evening. But then, they are supposed to be near horrific at the South Pole, so why should I hope they'd freeze here? We are supposed to drop to 33F tonight...normal is around 40F, but back up to 59F on Tuesday.

Sandy,
Laughing! We're taking Christmas lights down tomorrow afternoon because it's going to be the warmest day that it isn't raining.
We can sometimes fly a kite in March. April is my big wah! It turns cold and wet.
So right. Once March hits there's no turning back!! Besides, the garden catalogs are rolling in and I need to look at the new batch.

Greene,
YES! We have passed the short days!!

Jean,
A lot of insects can slow their metabolism, or have antifreeze in their veins. It's why so many survive unless it gets super cold.
Mosquitoes? I would think they would die!

I might complain a little about the weather, but truthfully, I like having 4 seasons. It gives me something to look forward to and time to deal with things I need to do when it's cold. If it was warm I'd be outside all the time.
