Hurray! Hurray! , I finally was able to find a perfect spot to plant my peony seeds. Now, the waiting begins! Will find out what happens in a few years. Smiling Hopefully, some will germinate and grow. I am really excited about these species seeds, P. Peregrine, P. Mlokosewitschii, P. Tenuifolia double X P. Tenufolia Rosea. Also planted are some tree peony seeds and herbaceous peony seeds. I got these seeds from a seminar about growing peonies from seeds from Bob Johnson.

This year, I ordered P. Tenufolia Rosea from Adelman's Peonies. I am really excited about this pink fernleaf and hope it does well for me. I would love to cross it with the double red fernleaf peony to get some more seeds of this cross. Some people have been successful getting a double pink fernleaf from such crosses. At this time, the double pink fernleaf is very rare and expensive.

Keep us posted! on when they sprout etc.
I have an assortment of seeds in baggies of moist vermiculite.
Nothing happening, but while some were reasonably fresh-some were very dry.
Soaked them in dilute peroxide first.

Oops, I forgot to soak them. Thank you for the tip, Caroline. How long would you soak the seeds?

I soak until they sink, changing solution every couple of days.
Most sink by four days. I toss any which do not sink in one week.

Isn't it a bit late?
If it is planted in autumn, It may sprout next Spring.

Yes, it is late but better than never. Some peony seeds take more than a year to germinate.

Ideally,---- one would like to start new fresh seeds in early autumn.
But I only got two seeds from my own plants, so I have got seeds later from other people.
And I ordered some from China.

There is some information on line which suggests that the cold period might be shortened by using GA 3 so I might try that if I ever get roots on these first.

I bought some peonies seedlings from a hybridizer a few years ago. Most of them produce single pink and white flowers. Two of them are really fertile. They produce tons of pods and seeds. If you want any of these seeds next year, I certainly can send you some, Caroline. I have never crossed peonies but maybe fun to try.

Can't wait to see what grows for you, Karen! Growing from seed takes so long but it's so exciting to see a new, teensy peony growing!
