Well, bummer, several nights coming up may dip below 40 for me. Plumeria back inside, thank heavens it's not very big.
Plant it and they will come.

Sally, you could just throw a sheet over it. I had mine outside a couple of years ago thinking the forecast over spring break looked fine for them... then it snowed. My neighbor put sheets over them for me, and all was well.

that's amazing. I think I saw 'black tips' once before from chill, that makes me cautious- even though they outgrow it
Plant it and they will come.

I'd be more cautious if yours is already leafed out, though

That will be gorgeous, Lisa. My yellow suffered a setback last year. And much as I want to go native, I'd love to add some deciduous yellow and or orange azaleas, which I think are all Asian.
But my native pink deciduous will bloom soon. đź’“
Plant it and they will come.

Aspen I've been carrying this note in my purse for months intending to give it to you. Galanthus guru in PA has whopping number of varieties. Whew, I rid myself of one piece of paper.

Found his website, and WOW! https://edgewoodgardens.net/

In addition to snowdrops, he has a good list of trilliums for sale this year ($12 per rhizome or $80 per 10 rhizomes of the same variety -- might be a good group buy opportunity). I couldn't find pricing on his list of snowdrops... I think the numbers by the names are # bulbs available and not $, or at least that's how his trilliums are listed.

I want to go to the Galanthus Gala next spring!!

Too cold out there I moved my Brugs from next to the windows in the sunroom to up against the house at least for the next two nights. My plumies won't even see the sunroom until nighttime temps are 50°. I put too much money into those dwarfs! They can stay in the basement under the grow lights like they have all winter. I actually have an inflo on one. It may take forever to bloom given the temperatures in the basement, but it'll see outside soon enough.

Is it too early to plant bulbs outside? I have zero room inside for more pots.

Bulbs in question:
- Begonia
- Caladium
- Freesia
- Ismene festivalis

There are others, but these are what come to mind.

Thanks!

Caladiums, I think maybe yes, because I remember Bill telling me once they could be planted out when you'd plant potatoes.

I tucked some calla lily bulbs around the sides of other pots and have begonia tubers crammed into a group pot, just to get them started sprouting roots and leaves.

Give them sun to warm to the pots if you can, I guess.
Plant it and they will come.

I think we're looking at better night temps going forward. I've been watching temps like a hawk!! I desperately need to get my Plumie to some heat so I can enjoy that info opening.

Today's purchases.
Thumb of 2024-04-23/sallyg/869f6f
King coleus for big pots by the front door. 2 kinds of peppers, didn't have much to choose from. Four pack of eggplant ' millionaire' a skinny purple one when all I wanted was one or two. Again, limited choices. Two kinds of lettuce, the second place I went had bigger plants at cheaper price. Probably putting those in pots on deck and hope no slugs. Basil. A ground cherry Aunt Molly's, new to me. Parsley.
Plant it and they will come.

Well, I'm biting the bullet as it were. I have a local landscape guy coming next week to haul the rest of the leaves to the back. It's going to run about $200, but it will allow me to focus on other things.

They may even use my chipper to shred the leaves as well. That would be icing on the cake!
