Cool! A "Never Too Old" swap! I'm in.

Maybe the host could find a place to donate seeds sent in that were not requested. Some places are setting up "seed libraries" that give away seeds, and request that the takers bring back some seeds they multiplied and saved (like returning a book to the library, but returning more copies than you checked out.

As a one who 's trying to figure this out by "lurking", I THINK I've got a tenous handle on dibs...tickets still remain rather vague....and packets totally bewilder me!

I think if I watch the seed swapping (thread?? forum??) I SHOULD be ab le to figure it out in time for next year's swaps.

This is all new to me. Before, I couldn't participate in swaps 'cause I didn't meet the minimum. Now I do...I think. I still don't have any full packets, as I bought only ones I'd use. . . .

Color me still confused! Blinking

@BetNC , don't feel bad, it can be quite confusing in the beginning! I'm going to try to put together something of a Cliff's Notes version of a user manual for the seed swaps in the upcoming weeks so that people just getting into it can learn the basics quickly. Here's a Cliff's Notes version of that Cliff's Notes, LoL!:

Tickets: Each day, at a designated time, you are automatically awarded a number of tickets (based on a ticket multiplier that the host sets. If the host sets it at 5, you will get 5 tickets the first night, 10 the second night, and so on...) One ticket entitles you to place a dib on ONE item (often referred to as a 'packet' of seeds).

Dibs: Your claim on an item. May only be made if there are 'packets' of that item remaining. (The system automatically keeps track of what is/isn't still available.)

Packet: This refers to a 'set' of seeds that someone is giving away. It usually is NOT a full packet from a seed supplier. The packet (or pack) of seeds can vary widely in quantity, but the quantity is stated by the person offering it so that you know, before you place dibs, how many seeds are in that pack.

I hope this helps for now!

I don't know if you could ever find enough deranged seed-addicts to get one going.

Another question for the future....How do you get to create and host a swap? I was just curious how you host one. I had an idea for one...key word had!! I didn't write it down and I forgot Rolling on the floor laughing
