Fun!!! Hurray!

I'd like to personally thank Duane for stuffing his face at my seedy buffet and earning me some more tickets! Rolling on the floor laughing

Now, who got my Salvia darcyi & Asclepias purpurascens. Angry just joking...sort of... Hilarious!

Actually, I couldn't find the place that shows how many tickets you have at first so I wasn't sure if I earned any extra. That really needs to be displayed more prominently.

Not everyone played. Actually, while we were swapping we lost a player that had not posted any seeds yet. He is a fun and generous trader but had some PC difficulties and decided to drop out.
We will likely see him in future ATP swaps.

108 packs were selected. There are 50 unspent tickets out there yet to be used.

Once the swap opens, it never closes until the end of the last day. So anyone can dib at any time of the day. And if they dib your seeds then your available dibs are automatically updated and can be spent as soon as they are earned. The only thing you have to wait on is your new allotment of daily tickets, which post at the same time each day.

Duane & Michelle,
I was just teasing about being mad at you guys for getting the Asclepias & Salvia but thanks for the confessions. Big Grin Now I know whose lists to watch for those seeds in the future . Funnily enough, it's still the same two people! Green Grin!

Oh no, which top 4 did I get, Duane?

Aww, I'm sorry that we lost Rattlebox from the swap. He was great in last year's piggy-swap.

I have an idea for future swaps. The time zone difference for our European friends is something that will probably never be fixed. Here is a 'workaround" proposal-How about if those traders get an extra one or two dibs ticket each day, since they will often miss out on that one thing they really wanted? I think this could be a good way to keep them involved, and it is really fun to have them here.

@Pistil - Thank you for your idea, but the real problem is that European traders are always behind. Extra dibs won't help, because (in my experience) the most wanted seeds are already gone by the time we can log in. I got extra dibs because others choosed my seeds, but still almost all my most wanted seeds were already gone. As soon as others add seeds, I'm almost always too late to dib for them, because they are added during my sleeping time.
And it doesn't help that I have a very special wish list.
I started offering my 'not so very special seeds', was thinking about offering the really specials later in the swap, but now I think I won't do that. I will hardly have the chance to get any specials in return. They are already gone before I can log in.

Well, it is an experience for me.
You might suggest that I must start my own seed swap here. A good idea, but I can't do that via ATP. Not enough people who believe in international trading.

Maybe there is a way we can include international traders. Did you know that on DG, a hot trading item was pajamas? no kidding - they were sending each other jamies in the mail, wasting all that postage on jamies - instead of on seeds or plants.

Anyhoo, what if we had a 'Jamie Seed Swap'? Everybody has to wear their pajamas while trading, and hopefully some will send in pictures of themselves properly attired. The times of the swap will be conducted on whatever the optimum time for international traders is - Belgium for you, Jonna, and that will be the rationale for making it a 'Jamie Swap.

It makes perfect sense to me - if flowers can feed the soul, so can laughter Hilarious!

I'm hoping that Dave can give the hosts more flexibility regarding time; not change from UTC time, but allow the host to input the hour UTC that trading begins.
But in case that is not possible I have already been thinking about what I will do should I host this or another swap here next season to encourage Jonna and other international players to take part (I don't envision my hosting a swap that does not allow international players) on more equal terms. It might be as inelegant as changing the designated time by several hours and using the honor system to prevent anyone from "dibbing" before the official host imposed start time. The host would have to send a group email or make an announcement on a swap thread for trading to start sometime after everyone receives their tickets and is awake. There is no way to make sure everyone is available at any particular time and for the casual trader having 50-60 selections made before you get a chance may not seem like a big deal, but it could be a deal breaker for some people.

I have to run somewhere and try to get back before trading begins. If I am late, don't wait for me. Rolling on the floor laughing

Thank you Alana, I'll wait for a more flexible system. I do have a lot of international contacts all over the world. (big time differences)
I prefer that everyone has the same chance to choose seeds.
So maybe I will set up my own trading system next year.

The problem is that no matter when a trade starts, people in some time zones are going to be at a disadvantage. They may be sleeping, working, or commuting at the time. The swap started at the same exact moment for everyone so it is fair in that sense. Unfortunately, that "moment" can be mighty inconvenient for those in certain time zones.

I'm a night person anyway, so I could easily stay up until 1am or later to grab seeds (and do,) but I know that is not an option for everyone.

Jonna, I'm so sorry that you missed out on your most desired seeds. I was so hoping that you'd be able to snag that Ruschia pulvinaris that MrsBinWY listed but I saw that it was one of the first things to be dibbed. Perhaps you could put a list of the seeds that you missed on the "Seedy Interests" thread and maybe people would check to see if they have extra. I doubt that I had anything that you wanted, but please let me know if I did. Of course, I'm going after those Bloodroot seeds for you again this spring. One of my medical issues should be improving so, hopefully, I'll get them to you before they start sprouting in the fridge again. *Blush*

There are always going to be some folks whose life or work just won't mesh with any particular time that a selection type swap starts. That's life. The unfairness arises when it is always the same person or persons that is in that position. That is the issue I would like to see addressed in some way. Ella tried to tackle that it in the Piggy Swap by varying the swap start time year to year.
