This leaf has not budged in at least 2 weeks.
Is this another possible virus?

The number one reason orchid leaves do not open properly is dehydration. So, water the heck out of it and the orchid should be fine.

I took it out of the pot and the roots look phenomenal ...it is planted in pure sphagnum with some styrofoam chunks
at the bottom..the moss is truly wet..

If the moss is truly wet, then you have a light problem or a Nitrogen problem.

I would dry the heck out of the moss and gradually increase light.

One thing that Motes cautions is that overly wet plants during the winter can cause "soft" growth that becomes weak. It is critical for some hardening of the growth. This is for the health of the overall plant.

Also remember that drying encourages new root growth (they seek the moisture and push out from the plant).

If you can rule out hydration, follow Milissa's instructions.

thanks guys...I will take some more and ( hopefully) better pictures tomorrow of the whole plant and
the situation inside the pot. This plant is getting pretty much the same light as all my other happy plants...

We really haven't had anything that resembles winter yet, though. We've had perfect orchid weather for what seems like weeks. Every day's been in the 80's in December except for maybe two. Low's barely get below 70. We do have a nice cool-down coming along this weekend.

I don't think that's weak growth because it sure looks like a good sized, healthy leaf except for being folded up. On the one you 'helped' to open up, has any of the damage gotten worse? Color change or other symptoms? The color on the folded one looks pretty good, too. Not spotted or blotchy. Very strange!

You're not living next door to a nuclear power plant or something, are you??

That is the problem. Too much of a good thing (mild winter) makes the plant go soft. Sometimes we need to simulate the harsher conditions to make the plant hardy. In the wild, natural selection would just kill it off (the strong would survive).

That is why drying it, more light, and letting it reduce temperature (while dry) will actually help it get better. That is the theory anyway. If it doesn't bounce back, then it could just be a weak plant. I've had those too. After frustration with trying to "save" them, I finally wised up and tossed them.

This plant is from Krull - Smith

Well, if you feel like an excursion down here this weekend, the Sarasota Orchid Society's show is on tomorrow and Sunday. Jim Krull will undoubtedly be there, so you could ask him. (or if you can't come, I can ask him for you) The roots do look good, but I'm really surprised to see one of their plants potted up in all that (wet!) moss - they usually pot everything in coarse gravel. (which I hate!)

I think I'm going to go on Sunday since it's an indoor event and the weather's supposed to be rainy and cool. If it gets nice, I'll most likely drop by for a walk through Selby on my way home.

I bought a bunch of plants from them the day Jim and I went..most were in larger pots filled with the gravel..3 smaller plants were in this pure sphagnum..
I was planning on going tomorrow , just because of the way my schedule worked out this weekend... and , I guess, there
will be plants to be moved inside for a few days...

I lie.... Rooting around .. I found the original tag.. Soroa orchids from Homestead

Those roots look too wet. Once they saturate, it is hard for them to take up nutrients. That may be the problem. Dry it out and see if you get an improvement plus some new root growth.
