Yup...
Here's my list...
blc american freedom ‘crystelle’ am/aos
blc. apache sunrise x lc. Gold Digger
epicattleya Charlie Brown ‘Rojo”
blc. Bryce Canyon ‘Splendiferous’ AM/AOS
Pot. Susan Fender ‘Cinnamon stick’
Blc. Fritz Nickolaus ‘Spring Dances’

Ottawa Hwa Yuan Bay ‘She Shu’ AM/AOS
Lc. Netrasiri Waxy x Pot. Shinfong Laohyang
Blc. Glen Maidment x Blc. Robert Ferguson
Blc. (George King x Whitewater Falls ) x Blc. Bingham Vick ‘MC Splash’…..
Rchra. Honky Tonk Woman
Pot. Richard Young Caria’s Colette
Plc. Yen Surprise ‘Seiko’ AM/Aos
Lc. Little Pirate

The Gold digger is in bud as is Honky Tonk Woman.. and most of these plants are blooming size ..I think I bought only 3 seedlings this time.
Kawamoto had the best prices...3 seedlings for $24...and 2 blooming size for $25.
Sedona Orchids here in Miami had some interesting plants for 15-25 bucks.. The other places I shopped at were Odoms, Krull-Smith..I looked at Hamlyn's (sp?) from Jamaica...they had some great looking bareroot plants..but no pictures or prices...and when there's 50 other vendors to look at, I didn't feel like I had the luxury of time to look each one up on the internet..

Wow, those are some good prices for show orchids, Lindsey. I can see the flames from your burning shoes from here!

Wish I could make it down to that show one of these days, but three things deter me - Miami traffic and accommodations, and the heat of an outdoor show in May. It was pretty hot here today, can imagine it might have been even warmer down there.

You know Elaine, we went first thing this morning at 9:30 and both of us were out of money by 11..there are so many trees, there was a nice breeze blowing and some of the major aisles had shade cloth up over the walkway. It wasn't bad at all. I understand about the accommodations and I'm so lucky to have family here, otherwise it wouldn't be possible for me. I learned to drive in Boston..which is slightly more insane than here...

Only slightly? We lived in downtown Boston for 18 months back in '99/2000 (during the big dig construction) and I am still getting over the driving issues. Every time I got back safely to the parking garage I had to do a little happy dance because I was still alive. By comparison, Miami is a piece of cake.

Lindsey, where are you going to put all these beautiful new babies? Is there going to be a gh in the offing?

The rum punchy orange red one was my favorite also.

Alice you are right...Boston is way worse..but if you make direct eye contact with the other guy they would usually let you in or turn or whatever you were trying to do...here in Miami with all the HOT Latin blood ( and maybe just a sign of the new world we live in) No one makes eye contact and it is a little bit of a free for all, you HAVE to stay on your toes! I plan my arrivals to miss peak travel times on the worst stretch of the trip..'Florida's Turnpike'.
Unless I hit the lottery , there won't be a greenhouse in my future...I still have major house renovations to get to first..I do see an additional 8 foot bench in the future though..as my seedling and near blooming size plants out grow their small pots and have to get moved up a pot size. . . and I'll probably need another one of those tall rolling racks for the times in the winter when everyone does have to come inside.

Being from SC it is normal for me to smile and say good morning or whatever to complete strangers on the street. That used to scare the heck out of the Bostonians. They were sure I was recently released from the funny farm. Eye contact? Not where I lived in downtown Beantown.

All of that time you spent sailing the Caribbean is what's drawing you to the rum punch stuff, Lindsey. I was out in the garden early this morning and saw the big smoke cloud in the southeastern sky. It looked like Cuba was on fire. Now I realize it was just Lindsey's shoes. Great haul! I'll get started on the correct names.

Jim,
I'm pretty sure it wasn't just my shoes that spontaneously combusted yesterday..most everyone had carts overflowing..Air traffic control probably had to redirect planes coming in for approach due to the smoke cloud obscuring the runway. I did manage to get 3 or 4 dark pink or purple flowers..so my palate is a little more balanced, but yes...I am drawn to the ( what do they call it?) Art shades..and maybe there is a connection to the Caribbean Rum punch fondness for that same reason!

Sounds like you've got the basis of a really nice collection started there, Mike.

As far as the baby 'Suntopia' compots, wow you've got a tough job ahead of you raising those babies. Speaking strictly for myself here, I'm too old to wait for baby plants to bloom any more. Been there, tried that, my attrition rate, growing outdoors in Florida where every bug and fungus visits my orchid, it's just too much work to grow a tiny orchid to blooming size. (even though I have a bit more of a clue how to control the bugs and fungi)

You are sure right there, Elaine. I no longer will purchase flasked or even compoted plants..........too much time and effort involved. Unfortunately, I just wasn't that successfull when it was all said and done. Sad

Sighing! I was just remembering the thrill of starting rare plants from seeds or cuttings when I was much younger. I knew full well it would take many years to see the results but it was exciting. Go for it Mike and enjoy the ride. Thumbs up
