Thanks Lily! It looks pretty with that little red and gold iris, most peonies look too pinkish with the reds of irises, but Buckeye Belle is a great companion!

Gorgeous combinations @sgardener, with such a beautiful variety of plants. Your irises are stunning!

Is that yellow columbine that I see in the mix?

@sgardener- wow! What a lovely display. Have you ever had someone come along a pick a bouquet from the sidewalk garden?
A friend of mine made her front yard into a garden and she has had people come into it and pick her flowers!

Neal @gemini_sage, I found the name of the yellow Baptista, it's 'Baptista Screaming Yellow'.

LG, I had someone come into my front garden, and they took the only blooming stem from one of my bearded irises. Angry Lesson learned, all bearded irises are now only planted in my back garden that's fenced.

Thanks Annette! Another plant that has similar bright yellow spikes that I use as a consolation prize for not being able to grow lupines is thermopsis. It also blooms with mid and late season peonies.

Carolina Moonlight is another stunning yellow baptisia. It highlights my pink and coral peonies, blooming at the same time.

Luckily, noone has come onto my yard to steal blooms. Though if they ask me, I would gladly give them a bouquet.

Tracey, that's the one I have I couldn't think of, and you're so right- the perfect soft yellow for pinks and corals! I have it with blues and whites, and love how it echos the color of Bartzella.

It sure does accent that 'Bartzella' in bloom, Neal. I also am loving it with the bluish/lavenderish colored iris.

It really is that shade of yellow that "plays well with others" Thumbs up The other light yellow one I have is Lemon Meringue- I can hardly tell it from Carolina Moonlight.

Liz, I'm looking through photos from last spring and aching for spring to arrive! Anticipating blooms and seeing everyones pics makes seeing the snow fly out the window right now a little bit better Smiling

Beautiful Neal!

What is the name of the plant in front of the irises?

No snow here, it's a bright and semi-warm day. Not warm enough to thaw the several inches of ice topped with snow completely covering all of my gardens right now.....

Thanks Annette! That's shrubby cinquefoil or potentilla, and I'm pretty sure I recognize this as the name:

I picked up a bright yellow one last year for a different part of the bed. They have blooms most of the summer.

It's a lovely plant, I would love to put one close to my peony Cheddar Surprise. I'll have to see if I can find one locally.

I see a few at Lowe's the last few years. That would be great with Cheddar Surprise Thumbs up

It sure does Neal!

As of last fall, most of this part of my garden is bare except for the lilies beside the arbor. I will be planting red peonies here with the red and yellow Iris. Thanks for pointing this combo to me! Hilarious!

Thank you Annette! Yes, it is a yellow columbine. I wanted them to set seed; unfortunately, my neighbor's son picked the flowers! Of all the flowers he could pick from the garden!

Oh, that's painful to hear. I had some yellow columbine seeds, but sprinkled the seeds in the garden yesterday. I'll save some from the plants again this year, let me know if you would like some of the seeds.
