Seems my full spectrum grow lights help the plumies from going to sleep but doesn't help on the inflos. Both Karina Plumies that have inflos are drying out and just falling off. Not sure why but my only guess is the Sun has more of an impact to help the blooms instead a grow lights.

@drdawg Did you get a letter from the California dept of agriculture the other day? I got one that said 3 plants were rejected. Confused

Yes I did Lucky. I spoke with the CA Ag. agent a few days after those plumeria were shipped and he asked if they could inspect the package. I told him to go right ahead. He called me the following day and said the plumeria were fine and nothing was found. In fact he said the plants were as "clean" as any he had ever examined. He sent the box along to you. It took them a month to send out this form. Why it was sent is a mystery to me.

A dog sniffed the plants out. Shrug!

I did promise him that in the future I would put a label on all boxes headed to CA stating the contents, my county and state, and permission to inspect the box's contents. I have already made those labels and will use them in the future. In fact, I have already used the label on two boxes. I want to do the right thing. Thank goodness that CA is the only state that has a plant-sniffing dog (paid for through a federal grant - my and your taxes). If this becomes a more common problem, I will simply stop shipping to CA. In the previous five years, I had never had a box of plants held up in CA. This box of plumeria was the second in a month. I guess they just got the dogs.

I have stopped shipping to CA. You need a nursery license to do it legally.

Hetty, I asked the CA Ag. agent whether it would help to have certification stamps on the boxes I ship and he assured me that it would not matter one iota. He said they find far more "tainted" plants from licensed nurseries than from individuals shipping plants. In fact he said that IF the nursery is in FL, they would red-flag that/those box immediately, without even using their dog. He was kind enough to tell me that my county in Mississippi is not on any sort of quarantine list and as long as I was not shipping fruit or vegetables to CA, I should have little problem. Time will tell whether that is true or not. Even as small as my "operation" is, I would not mind being licensed and certified if I thought that was necessary or would be of help. If I can continue doing what I do, always being careful to notice any sort of pest and being careful to NOT include any "dirt" when shipping to CA, I will just stay the same as I have for the last five years. If change has to come, well, I will make that change.
