Had not heard of these before and had to go look them up. Strange looking blooms! Be interested in the responses you get.
One of the questions you will probably be asked is what zone are you in. Smiling

I didn't have much luck with them in California. I think I had Ferraria crispa. You might check with the folks in the bulb forum. I grew them in containers, and they came up the first year or two, and then just fizzled out. Could be the squirrels dug them up.. they destroyed my miniature daffodil collection. Sorry, I don't remember the particulars .. it's been quite awhile now.

I hope you'll post pictures when they bloom. The flowers on that whole Genus are really interesting.

Fresh seeds are easy to germinate indoors by window during winter. I first time tried in summer but did not grow. This time tried in winter and 100% germination rate.

What a fascinating iris! Out of my zone for growth, and our summers are way too wet. Would love to see how your seedling do!

Jane ~ Welcome! to the Iris Forum! Hurray!

They are out of my zone as it gets too cold in winter, but what an interesting plant. Please take pictures when they bloom! Thumbs up

This year I planted seeds and an adult bulb in the spring. The bulb woke up and sprouted in the autumn after the rain, and I brought it to the house for the winter. The seeds sprang up abundantly in the spring and grew well during the year. Impatient to wait for the bloom
