OHHH the boys are full of themselves today...I'm surprised we've not heard from Cam or Rick Rolling on the floor laughing
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Well, the chipmunk and deer have plucked my last nerve. The rodents chewed at least one hole into the shed to get at the seed. I picked up at least a pound off the floor with the shop vac. The 4-legged rodents are mowing down my hosta. One pot, which had grown about 14" above the rim is now below the rim Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling ! And this is after the repellent was put out. So maybe they're putting the deer equivalent of a clothespin over their nose and eating anyway?

Ugh...so sorry RIck! Must as I love the critters...I have to say, I'm glad they don't have accessibility to my yard.

So maddening Rick. I hate when rodents get my birdseed.
Meanwhile, had a friend help me watering. I sure hope it stays and gets mosquito we s who seem attracted to the wet watering can.

Rick, try my homemade deer repellent, which deters by taste rather than smell. In my experience, it works very well and lasts quite a long time.

Blend one egg yolk, one tablespoon baking powder and one quart water. The mixture will foam up, so you'll want to add the water gradually. After it stops foaming, put it in a spray bottle and spray away!

It works because baking powder tastes terrible. The egg yolk just helps the baking powder stick to the leaves.

The theory behind repellents relying on scents is that deer don't like being around those plants because they fear not being able to smell predators. Deer in our area probably gravitate to those sprays because they know that's where the tasty plants are, though!

He was over on the Gardenia leaves yesterday - looks like I might have got him with some of the mulch I was putting down...poor lil guy. I'm hoping he stays and invites distant family...really not happy with whatever pest (whitefly?) is coating stems of my flowers etc. Grumbling

Looked out this morning to see a good sized red fox strolling on the hill behind the yard. I know they have a bad rep but I was reminded how beautiful they are.
