I went to USF Botanical Gardens today and I saw a few plants that aren't in the database and I would like to add my pictures but I'm scared of screwing up a new entry. Here are the ones I saw:

Aechmea aripensis 'Raspberry' That was on the tag. I see there is an A. aripoensis but I have no idea if that's an alternate spelling or what.

Calathea 'Wilson's Princep'. I'm not even sure what a Calathea is but it looked cool.

Hamlin orange - Citrus x sinensis. It says hybrid on the tag. Oh heck, here's the tag.

Thumb of 2016-01-13/mellielong/826622

Camellia japonica 'Margaret Williams' I Googled it and found a camellia site that said this one was from the 1960s and created here in Tampa so maybe it never spread and got popular? Here's the link I saw: http://camellia.unipv.it/camel...

Camellia japonica 'Mrs D.W. Davis' Came from nearby Seffner, FL. http://camellia.unipv.it/camel...

Billbergia 'Fascinator'

Any help is much appreciated! Thumbs up

Calathea - foliage plant usually.
Do you want to learn the process or have them put into the db?

I added Aechmea aripoensis 'Raspberry' for you ... it will go in the queue for the moderators. I'll let you know when it's been approved.

I hope it's okay that I'm doing this? Just yell at me if I shouldn't be adding these.

Regarding the Citrus (Naval Orange, Tangelo & Grapefruit) our database shows sinensis as a synonym for aurantium Grapefruit (Citrus x aurantium) so I'm thinking the Hamlin Orange should be entered as Citrus x aurantium 'Hamlin' but not sure about that so I'll leave it for an administrator.

Thanks, guys! Lin, it's totally fine. I see all those tutorials about things you shouldn't do and it freaks me out. Plus, I tend to take things personally when I get corrected. My therapist and I were talking about fear of making mistakes today and I raised my hand and said, "That's like, my whole life." Maybe I can work on learning how to add plants to the database this year. Although, if I win the Powerball, I'll hire one of you to do it for me! Rolling on the floor laughing Heck, I'll hire a professional photographer to follow me on my nature walks!

Thanks, Zuzu!

I was getting ready to add them myself when I saw that you had submitted them, Lin. Looks like we're all here at the same time. Smiling

I'll add the Hamlin after I find the right name for it.

You were right about the name, Lin. It's an orange named Hamlin.

I agree Just go for it, Melanie. I'm pretty new and have made mistakes, but that's the way it goes. We're all learning here.

I agree with Lynn. Corrections to my boo-boos have always been both kind and helpful. Don't feel intimidated.
