Good job Ibis!! Keep us posted on your Ti Plant (Cordyline fruticosa 'Leisha')

I've had a couple of Cordylines that were so colorful for awhile and then for some reason or other most of the leaves reverted to green. This is a photo from about four years ago of Cordyline fruticosa 'Tricolor'

I still have a couple of potted Cordylines (don't remember which they are) and they look really ratty ... truly pitiful from too much sun, too little water and just general lack of proper care. *Blush* We're getting ready to move so I've been super busy the past couple of months with packing, etc. I think once we get moved into the new house I will cut them back and see what new growth looks like. Green Grin!

Thank you Alice! That's our soon to be 3 year old golden boy Boeing (Bo for short). He's the first canine my husband and I have had in the household in many years ... we were strictly a cat family for 30+ years! It was an adjustment with a dog again; he was 7 months old when we adopted him and he certainly has brought us a lot of laughter and joy!

We just lost our Golden Doodle Boolie (Boo for short Smiling ) a few weeks ago and we do miss that laughter he brought us. Before Boo we always had Goldens and they are wonderful animals. I can tell Bo is a fabulous dog.

Alice, I'm so sorry for your loss! Crying It is very difficult when we lose one of our loving fur babies. At our old house where we lived for 40 years, there is a special corner in the backyard that was my memory garden; we buried two dogs, a parakeet and eight or so kitties there.

I love the name you chose for your Doodle, very cute. We plan on adopting another dog once we get settled in our new home and we've thought of the possibility of a Golden Doodle or another Golden Retriever. Bo is our first Golden but my youngest sister has raised four over the years and also fostered a few Goldens ... they are wonderful companion animals!

Thank you. We took the name from the Dan Ackroyd character in Driving Miss Daisy and he always called his mother a doodle.

I finally planted my new Ti logs yesterday. It has been rainy and the soils are still cool so I have them on a heat mat outside. I fertilized the ones in the ground as they were looking puny after the winter.

Ibis, how nice that we live close.

I did a little research and didn't really come up with any answers on the color of the Cordylines. I did find this about fertilizer, I've never really fertilized mine. I do notce mine have better color in the spring and get more green as we warm up and get more rain. I really don't give mine a whole lot of attention, they get irrigation twice a week and rain. One gets filtered sun and has more color, the other is totally shade. The red sisters are in half sun.

Alice, sorry about the loss of your fur child, so hard on the heart. We rescued a Golden Doodle a couple years ago, she was ten months old and the sweetest dog ever. She had three homes her first ten months because, basically she got too BIG. She is very smart and loves people, maybe too much. Before her we had a German Shepherd for over thirteen years, I never thought I could love a dog as much as her, but this doodle is just awesome.

Oh my, Marabelle is adorable, love that face!

I've never fertilized my Cordylines either but then again, I am so lazy and don't routinely feed any of them. I know I'd get more blooms on my few orchids and others if I took better care of them.

I've been browsing and Drooling at some Cordylines in the database and now I'm wanting to start a wish list. Green Grin! The leaf coloration on some of them is just so beautiful! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Aren't they amazing? Trying to find them is the hard part. I remember seeing a nursery in South FL, somewhere along the east coast, that had a good selection but I can't remember the name or location.

I wanted to add, what a teddy bear Marabelle is. I just want to reach in and snuggle her.

@sunkissed - thanks for the link to that article. I don't think I've ever fertilized mine either, so maybe it's time to start. And Marabelle is gorgeous! I've always thought that was the perfect mix.

@ardesia - so sorry for the loss of your Boo. They just never live long enough...

@plantladylin - Bo certainly looks regal as he looks out over his kingdom Big Grin It's amazing how much joy they bring us.

They are hard to find. Every year in Orlando in March, Leu Gardens has a huge plant sale. There has been a nice vendor there the past three years that sells just Cordylines and Crotons.

AhHa, it must be Peter's, good list but no pictures. They are in Vero Beach with no shipping. Thumbs down

I found the list of vendors at the Leu sale. Looks like several good ones.
