I love his daylilies but can't afford them at this time. I got many seeds with his daylilies as parents though. Would love to have Angel on Board, Dr. Celia Stump, and the Ultimate Sacrifice someday.

What are colour changers, Fred? Does an individual flower go through colour changes (like Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow?) or are the changes on different blooms?

I would have A Kiss At Midnight, Defender Of Freedom and Living In Paradise in a flash if I could. I would also have Strong Tower for the scape and Healing Hands for curiosity.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

My favorite two were A Kiss at Midnight and Living In Paradise, although I was intrigued by every one of his kids from converted Doorakian material. Unfortunately, I had to narrow it down to one plant, and chose Living In Paradise.

Those color changers do change color as the day progresses, I think Richard Norris had the first one (PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION) I think was the name. Larry got it and two more from other hybridizers (none of the three plants were related) and now has several hundred seedlings starting with those three. I saw a bunch of these two years ago and they just don't interest me, but they are fascinating changing colors during the day.

I thought I had mentioned that last year I got his ANGEL ON BOARD and THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS and I really love them both, but maybe that was in a different thread.

Did you notice that he now has his own tet conversions of PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION and Liz Salter's IN A JIFFY, the only two color changers that I'm aware of so far -- can you tell me what the third one is, Fred? And did you take note of those conversion prices? YIKES!!! He, like Bill Waldrop, has made some wonderful conversions of some really different plants than the conversions I usually see. I would really love to get those two -- someday -- when I can get them at prices I can actually afford, and also Waldrop's TET SUNGLASSES NEEDED. But for now I'm going to have to make do with the dip SUNGLASSES NEEDED that I just ordered from Bell's, plus I purchased both of the dip color changers last year and hope to see blooms on them this spring.

I did end up ordering LIVING THE GOOD LIFE from the Graces. It's a cross of FULL OF TREASURE X TET ROSE F. KENNEDY, and in his description Larry said he was hoping to pick up both a larger flower and green edge, but he got only the larger bloom and he believes we can pick up the edging again with crosses with edged flowers. And I've also ordered Guy Pierce's SHARYN LIANNE and VERDANT GLOW, so I'll be dying to make those crosses with LIVING THE GOOD LIFE!

Karen, I believe I've been seeing DR CELIA STUMP on the Lily Auction for pretty reasonable prices lately...

I forgot to mention two of Larry Grace's 2015 diploid introductions that are also color changers: POWER OF IMAGINATION and SPIRIT OF DELUSION. And the parentage of each includes PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION and/or IN A JIFFY. So of course I've ordered POWER OF IMAGINATION for spring... nodding

The third one was a seedling, Larry told me whos it was but I forget. It could very well be registered now, Larry started all this several years ago. Larry and Bill work pretty close together and both are really good at doing conversions. Larry has shown me the hold process, but being I am leaning more and more toward dips, well you know. Its a very expensive process also. First you have to have enough plants to start, most will die from the treatment or not work, then you baby sit them for several weeks keeping them at the correct temp. and moisture. Then to sell one you have to increase them making sure they don't revert back.

The scape on STRONG TOWER is the reason I got it, I have lots pretty faces with great scapes from WILD DREAMS and want to cross them with ST.

Can't wait to see pictures of your seedlings from those future crosses, Fred -- I really love all the seedling pictures you post each spring!

And Steve, I hope we can look forward to seedling and registered cultivar bloom pictures from you this spring, too. I don't think you were a member yet last spring, but we have monthly running threads showing everyone's seedling blooms as well as registered cultivar blooms, and they usually keep going right up to the fall each year -- Fantasyland for me! I just love spring! Hilarious!

Michele (Tink3472) has been so busy that lately she hasn't participated in our forum at all, but I really hope she can post some spring seedling and culltivar blooms this year too -- she has some incredible seedlings, and I miss her posts!

Living in Paradise arrived yesterday—a large, husky, two-fan plant, along with a generous bonus double-fan of the aptly-named Unexpected Mysteries. It was a total surprise in many ways, and really made my day. When I ordered a couple of weeks ago, I asked them to ship ASAP, because I can plant any time, and they actually took me up on it. It's my first order from Graceland, and I couldn't be more pleased.

I think that this is the perfect time to "spring" plant in my climate, but most growers are reluctant or unable to ship out-of-season. Experience has shown me that these will perform far better than plants dug and shipped in March or later, since they will have more time to re-establish before the late spring above-ground growth spurt.

You're probably not a hybridizer, eh? I can certainly believe that some hybridizers would pay that much for a SF of a tetraploid conversion of one of the two new color changers that some are so excited about. I can remember just a couple of years ago being shocked that people would pay up to $2,000 for a SF of TET ROSE F. KENNEDY, but they did! And now a couple of years later the newness has worn off and the prices have dropped -- and now I can actually afford one -- although it's certainly at the top of my comfort zone, as well as my pocketbook...

That is a great purchase and gift plant that you got, Cali -- and now I'm all excited to receive my LIVING THE GOOD LIFE from them, as I believe I requested it sometime in February -- can't wait!
