I once saw Corydalis lutea referred to as a "charming garden vagrant". It does seed prolifically around the garden but unwanted seedlings are easily weeded out. The foliage is very attractive and is a nice contrast to the larger leaves of many of the hostas. And added benefit is a long bloom season with pretty little yellow blossoms. Definitely a nice addition to the shade garden.

I love plants that self-seed, they often show up in places I would never think to put them. One of my favorite combos is this corydalis that decided to keep my iris company - they kind of fill in between the iris swords. The original corydalis plant is about 20' to the south of this bed across a lawn.

I planted my first one of these last summer and was very impressed with it. I will be adding more for sure.
