So can I ask a question about seeds. What is the likelihood that I could grow the plants from seeds and actually have something grow and stay. Are some more robust than others. Hmmm. Guess I should look in my own ABG to figure that out.

Blue poppies probably would germinate at 55ยบ F, but take a bit longer.
They can be grown as a winter sow, but here they are too small then.
I use the area near the windows of this old house-it is always cooler there.
I place cheap 'frig thermometers throughout the house so I know where it is warm and where it is cool.

Most plants for an ordinary rock garden can be grown from seeds.

I joined the national rock garden group yesterday and also the local group. Got an email (now that I am on the local email list) about their summer seed hunting trip. They have gone all over the world gathering seeds. I am hoping I can go on the next trip. There are actually many places here in Alaska to gather seeds also. Now that I am attached to the group I anticipate being able to learn a bunch to make my new rock garden successful. And of course contribute to the local group.

Yup. That's the one. I just found out the trip is in 2017 so I may explore doing to hunting around here in Alaska. There are some plants that are only in Alaska up by Fairbanks where I grew up. About a 7 hour drive up the Parks Hwy. Have done it a zillion times.
