Thanks for checking in, Janice. I'll sleep better tonight. I'm still worried about Lindsey.

Good news, Kathy! It sounds like everything is under control.

This was the scene on Sunday in my town - a tree down on the major intersection and Klaus checking out the parking lot next to the Saddle River.

Boojum, happy to hear that your SF house is OK as is your tenant. Can't believe you moved every orchid back outside. What a job. Hearts.

Williamsville is a mess or so I hear, not to mention Bratt. But our House, Barn and Shed on Baker Brook are apparently fine. Orchid Mark is too, but back living at his mother's house just down the road from us which had no damage, so his orchid collection there are all OK too. I think he has just power issues over at his rental in S.Newfane, but according to his mother, they almost lost that barn to the raging Rock River. The Old Grist Mill House next to the PO in Williamsville, a block from our house, is flattened, totally. Horrible to see the pictures of it.

We had gutted our kitchen and laundry a couple of weeks ago, but who knows now when the carpenters will have time to start our project as so many people are totally devastated and in more need than we are to get their homes repaired. I had hoped that folks at Olallie Day Lily Farm over in South Newfane were spared, but just read this on their site. Nicer folks there aren't, plus they have a herd of adorable Border Collies. I assume their houses and barns are Ok, just that the roads and bridges are washed out. Patti

Tropical Storm Irene has knocked us for a loop!

All access to Olallie Farm or out to civilization is knocked out.
We will not be able to have a division sale but hope to start shipping next week

Keep checking out our Facebook page for picture of the wash outs!

What a terrible thing to see but I'm so glad you are fine. All of the material stuff can and will be fixed. Hang in there.

Hi All,
thanks for your concern...I lost power for only 30 hours but only just got my internet back on line...
many people nearby will be without power for another week at least! Lowe's is selling generators
as fast as the tractor trailers can unload them!
I had lots of trees down, thankfully, they all fell away from the house. The greenhouse roof came off
but is salvageable. Absolutely NO communication or concern from the person (dearly departed?) that
used to live here. He didn't even check in with his mother...that's bad ...he only lives a few miles away.
We got between 10 and 14 inches of rain in one day..I think the wind was in the 60 - 80 mph catagory.
The garden is pretty beaten down and one of my beautiful japanese maples got broken in half..I hope it will
survive the trauma.
Ursula looks like you had some class 5 rapids there in your town!

Lindsey, I am so glad that you are ok. It is great to hear from you!
So sorry for the damage you had, and that HE did not communicate.

Thanks...it was so nice to log on here and feel the love!
this was my first big storm by myself...
on a fun note, and those of you that move all your plants ...while I didn't
have much time to look closely at each one as I was grabbing 4 at a time and
taking the stairs 2 at a time ..getting them all inside...I did see quite a few
sheaths, buds, and other encouraging signs of happiness from the pots!
I had posted on one of the other threads some garden flowers that I had cut prior
to the storm...some of my reblooming iris are blooming and I had cut them
and put them on the kitchen table..next morning there were shiny slug trails across
the placemat...also...he who shall not be named...signed an agreement of separation
today, which allows me to stay in this house as long as I want ( he pays mortgage, electric and other expenses)
so...trumpet sounds.... Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
I do not have to move, I do not have to give up my garden or my greenhouse, until it suits ...ME!!!!

Woohoo! Our friend Lindsey is alive and kicking. It's so good to know you are well and that the personal problems are working themselves out. Do know that we were all rooting for you. Even though you may not be moving to Florida, the invitation to join me for an Apopka trip stands. I feel better already. Group hug
