Permaculture Million Pollinator Garden Challenge
Any idea what these plants is found in Texas piney woods in January? Note the purple underside of leaves.

It looks like Fritillaria to me. Not sure of the which one. The leaves of this fritillaria can look much different when the bulb is not big enough to produce flowers. It is in the lily family for sure. I see that they don't naturally occur in Tx. May be Ladybird Johnson has been there. Perhaps it's is an Erythronium.

They seem to be a fairly common woodland native here. The flowers are tiny but it is a charming little plant.
