Hello Jo Ann, I keep stumbling one after the other on your pics. They simply invariably catch my eye! Today just three of them!. This particular one I'm curiuos about the placing of this border. I just got my seeds from outsidepride.com and contains some Astilbes which I understand require a damp spot and dappled shade. Is this the general situation of your border?Next to your Brunnera is a Hosta , one other group of plants which I was unable to recognize and then something that looks like a clump of Petunias. Behind between the Lillum Traveller and the Japanese Iris I somehow think I see drumstick Alliums. These last ones are in bloom right now in full sun. So are my Lilliums ( Noids though). So I'm puzzled about your sun/shade conditions.
I,ve heard about your weather conditions and I so hope you keep warm, and safe inside. Thank you. Arturo

Arturo : This border gets part sun .Mornings are dappled shade the border runs north and south so the eastern sun in the morning keeps the late day heat off of the Astilbe. I have lost many due to too much sun and not enough watering.
There must be just enough sun to make lilies do well there.
The hosta next to the brunnera is Sunlight Child, behind the hosta is a Campanula Dark Purple.
I think what you identified as petunia is a Platycodon Sentimental Blue. Its a perennial and comes up later than other spring plants.I have nearly killed some due to trying to put a plant in the bare spot.

I added a few more tags to the image.
A thought about your astilbes. They don't like it too wet. If they are just in soil that doesn't completely dry out they will be fine

Old gardeners never die. They are just pruned and repotted.

I sure wish my gardens would return to some of these images. The Traveller and Eyeliner lilies are gone. Graffiti is very enduring.
This is that border last July. I was laid up with knee surgery and couldnt weed. Its a miracle I had the courage to take pictures.
