Trying to get used to my new camera,..getting there,..the zoom is X18 but most of the birds are way beyond that distance,..just today and across the far side of my road there is a Magpie's nest,..come Spring every year they rebuild the nest though they tend to wait until around the 22nd of March which is the official start of Spring,..lo and behold they started working on the nest today as this is our 3rd day into our Traditional start to Spring,..nice to see Traditional Springtime Keeping Magpies Whistling

Wow, the colors are very intense with that new camera, Philip! Is that feeder really neon green, or is the camera setting enhancing it somewhat?

Beautiful shots, anyway and such colorful birds. Love the blue tits.

Philip, I love the colorful birds that you see in your part of the world! I had no idea that Magpies built such large nests. That Bullfinch sure has pretty colors and I truly love the Blue Tits; that sure is a pretty background with the bright red of the plant behind the feeder!

I'm going out to run some errands in a short while and I plan to take my camera with me this time! We have lots of Osprey nests around town and last week when I was out shopping at a Walmart store, I was walking back to my car and glanced towards a tree where I knew there was a huge Osprey nest. A beautiful Osprey was perched on a branch above the nest; it looked as if it were posing and it would have been such a nice photo. I wish I'd taken my camera with me; I didn't have my mobile phone with me either and it takes decent pictures but I use my phone so little that most of the time I forget to take it when I leave the house.

Saw a new bird on the feeder today... it's definitely a female, either a Downy or Hairy Woodpecker. I can't tell the difference between the two, but both are common in Florida. Such pretty markings on this one...

I'm pretty sure this is a titmouse, blue coloring. I noticed it hopping around through the garden bath and zoomed in with my camera through the window. Smiling

I think a hairy woodpecker Ibis. The white on the outer tail feathers does not have black barring like a Downy and the longer bill is indicative of the Hairy.

That is a tough one Ibis. If you hadn't gotten the photo you did where one could see so much of the bird then it could have been an either/or situation but you had the white outer tail feathers clearly on both sides & that beak & nothing was cut off so we could tell the approximate size & heft of the bird. Otherwise I would have been saying --- Confused

Such cute pics, Ann! Kinda funny to see the little bluebird wading in the water in Feb. it's so cold, but probably not in Florida. Smiling That is a really cute cardinal, it does look like a young female.

Ibis, I agree, that is a pretty little Hairy Woodpecker!! It has a longer bill than the Downy and is also a bit larger than the Downy.

Christine, yes that little cutie is a Tufted Titmouse!

Ann, I just love those Bluebirds and how cool to have the Goldfinches visiting! That little Cardinal is so pretty, I don't think I've ever seen one that light in color; it does appear to be a female.

Thanks Christine. We've had a quick warm up - a 2 day heat wave for Feb. which gave us 77 & 80 degrees. Cold front is on it's way though & we'll be back down in the 30's at night through the 11th or so they predict.

Ann,..No Snakes is something they all claim here as St Patrick was reputed to have got rid of them Whistling however as they have them across the pond in England one wonders,..there are reports of seeing small Grass Snakes here,..though i have not come across them,..as for the rain,..we did have just over 200 days of rain per year though that recording is well and truly broken of late as i forget when we last had a day without rain Sighing!

Nice shots of your Finches,..Bluebird,..Chipping Sparrow and Cardinal Thumbs up

Ibis,..Beautiful Woodpecker shot,..lovely markings Thumbs up

Christine,..Very nice little Titmouse Thumbs up

Lin, I love that Pileated Woodpecker - he's all dressed up in his nice black suit, then he's got that raging red mohawk! Hilarious! I'm always glad to see the cardinals and warblers. And that hawk is all business, especially in that last shot, where it looks like he's staring straight at you!

Philip, What a great place to take bird pictures - it's definitely a gathering spot! It's impressive to see so many ducks in the same place, I guess because I only see the occasional one in my little pond. The terns and pigeons are happy there too, and that swan is so elegant Lovey dubby
