Things are looking up. We've had a cloudy day the second day in September. Even a little rain this morning. So thankful!

We thought it would be a fun way to acknowledge talk show hosts. Johnny, Ellen, Dave, Jay, Oprah, etc. ya know... for our Chat Thread. I know Becky doesn't like Jay and I'm not wild about Dave but they're all pretty famous hosts.

Anyone have any goals for Sept.? New projects? Learn a new craft? Who's going to Winter Rye their lawn?

I'm working on a pretty cute quilt. Powder blue, yellow, greens, peach, apricot. I love the process of making a quilt. Will make a couple more while it's hot then I hit the out doors.

My little bro had knee replacement surgery Tuesday. 56 yrs old Sad

I love quilts. I collect quilt wall-hangings when I can find them. Smiling I especially like ones with houses or flowers or fall leaves or snow scenes. Smiling Sadly I do not sew. Please post a photo of the one you are making when it is done ! Would love to see it. Big Grin

I will. I've almost got the top done. It's small-ish and rather soft and dainty. I have a little problem with precise cutting and sewing engineering/measuring but I think it will look OK. I'm not entering it for competition after all!

But, I have entered handwork for competition before. Embroidery, needlepoint and paintings. This are a few of the things I want to accomplish in my air-conditioned home during my retirement Big Grin I can't imagine I'd ever want to take a cruise. A safari, yes, Thumbs up cruise, no. Thumbs down

I am afraid I am not patient enough for quilting. I would want it done in an hour or so. Rolling on the floor laughing I will look forward to seeing it in the future. Smiling I would probably get bored on a cruise though I love the ocean and a safari would be too hot probably for me. Blinking Now a trip to Alaska that would be nice. Thumbs up

Yea, I feel the same about a cruise. Boring. What I'd really love it to go to India, Nagaland, and tour the tea grower estates.

I saw "The Debt" last night. Helen Mirren. WWII Israeli patriots revenge against Nazi war criminal brought to justice. Miramax. Very well done, good story telling. Complex, emotional and raw. Well photographed, etc. But, JMHO, I thought the acting VERY stiff. One of those movies where it's difficult to identify with the emotions of any characters... though certainly admirable devotion to cause and country came through.

Becky asked if I'd seen The Help. I haven't yet... any of you? I hear the book was GREAT!

I've been on several cruises and I love them. All of them had major stops so I was able to see the towns. I love travel by car the very best! Alaska is on my bucket list, Linda!

I want to see the HELP but wondered if it's worth it or not?

I love this quilt. I have no patience to make them but want to copy the gist of this for a large canvas to hang over my bed. I'll make it horizontal though....but kinda like it. sorta kinda. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I love quilts and hope someday to be able to buy a handmade Amish quilt.
September plans are to get out in Garden if the July weather ever goes away!

I went on a cruise many years ago and it was awesome... and no, absolutely not boring! Besides so many things to do onboard, the ports of call allow you to see places you might not otherwise, and there are all kinds of activities in the ports to choose from (or do your own thing...). My favorite day included driving around Puerto Vallarta with a group of new friends from the cruise in a rented van with a driver, shopping in the crazy open markets, drinking too much tequila, a great lunch by the ocean, and parasailing! Then back to the ship for yet another great meal (dinner), and then choose from a multitude of bars, casinos, clubs, or quiet decks on board.

We're heading off to Napa in early October, hooray!!!! Made the arrangements yesterday!

Ilove Napa too, Brenda.

I agree, cruises aren't at all boring....so much fun, so much to do and see plus I adore the open seas.

I just don't do well ON the water. I like IN the water like snorkeling.

Brenda! So great you're going to Napa in Oct. Anniversary? Can't remember when the "crush" occurs. Around that time, as I remember.
