thanks, i guess i have to learn how to harvest them now. the tree is not in a good place right next to the house. it is only about four ft tall now. is the best time to move it late fall after the leaves and fruit are gone?

The best time to move it is in January when it will be at its most dormant state. Almonds harvest themselves - the husk will open and the almond inside will fall out. Your only job will be picking them up before the birds and squirrels do.
